I think what you are paying is for Mothers Help / junior Nanny level. My au pair has no previous au pair experience and does 30 hours a week. But thanks for the input anyway.

we pay £150 + £30 for food for 38 hours. I think if you treat an au pair well and pay them appropriately they work so much harder and feel much more part of the family which in turn is better all around.

Hi there
Could I ask roughly what your au pairs schedule is? We are in the same situation but think we are really over paying her.
Thanks!

Our au pair works between 30-35 hours a week although sometimes less, depends what we need her to do. She does 2 nights babysitting and we pay her £90pw. The work she does though is very easy. Mainly just help with putting the kids to bed as there at nursery all day.

A lot of the au pair agencies have quite detailed explanations on their websites. But basically "au pair" is 25 hours and "au pair plus" is 35 hours. The hours worked are meant to be over 5 days with 2 consecutive days off at some point during the week.

Hi all. I wondered if you could tell me what sort of hours your au pair works? I am trying to get an idea of what are reasonable hours excluding babysitting. Thanks!
