Aah, good luck, dear :-) Such a nerve wracking time but well done you for getting this far!
Although I didn't go in for any alternate treatments after the embryo transfer, I made sure I ate healthy, nutritious food, drank plenty of water, read books, listened to music and generally made sure I was as relaxed as possible.

Please, please avoid internet forums - it was my undoing in the early stages when I was trying to compare my symptoms with other people's experiences. It can drive you potty!

Just allow yourself to be pampered - get your partner to massage your feet and light scented candles around the house :-)!

I hope you'll be back in about 2 1/2 months' time, to inform us about your positive outcome :-)

Hello.
I dd 7 rounds of IVF so completely feel your pain. My 7th attempt worked and I got triplets!!!!! I did it in Spain but supported by a UK clinic too.
I was told just to carry on as normal. But I did take vitamins from Zita West.
Just don't do anything you wouldn't do if you we're pregnant naturally.
Good luck.
Keep positive.
Lots of love xxxxx

Thank you so much all for your kind words. I have been down this road several times now. It's so hard! But your thoughtful messages have helped.

Hi,

With my first, I had accupunture every 2 days, took it really easy etc etc. I was really positive to begin with but towards the end of the two week wait had convinced myself I wasn't pregnant and was generally miserable - although turned out we were pregnant with a gorgeous little boy.

Second time around, I decided I was going to be more positive - so we booked an overseas holiday with our toddler - somewhere far from pharmacists, pregnancy tests and the internet. I had a lovely 10 day holiday, felt really relaxed and used our one pregnancy test on the last day of the holiday. Despite flying, swimming etc, we were pregnant again and I felt far more positive than first time around.

So I guess, as many of the other posters have said, you need to do what is right for you. The two week wait is a real rollercoaster and the second week is truely horrible. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you manage to take your mind off it as best you can.

Hope it's all going well. I had a transfer, successfully, and was told to keep fairly quiet for the first two weeks, and horizontal as much as possible. While there may be no science behind that idea, my consultant pointed out that gravity does have an effect, albeit a small one. Perhaps wrong, and I did swim gently (horizontally :)), but we were lucky and I'd do the same again if we went for another one. After the two weeks, I was told to consider it the same as any other pregnancy, risk-wise. It's hugely stressful and try to keep your mind on other things if at all possible. Best of luck.

My best friend has recently been through this, and I honestly felt almost as emotional and tense as she did. Lean on your friends, talk talk talk. Don't believe people on certain baby forums who "felt" pregnant at 2 hours, or 3 days post transfer - it's rubbish. With my unplanned baby I had no clue for 8 weeks, and then even with my planned one it took at least 3 weeks before I wondered if I might be.
The transfer was a success for my friend, happily, and she is currently 11 weeks pregnant awaiting her first scan - this is after trying for 2 years. She's feeling very pregnant now (all the delightful early days of nausea, knackeredness etc) and enjoying it.
Happy thoughts, stay healthy, rested, hydrated ......... really, best of luck. I had no clue how hard this all was until my friend went through it, and now I feel such emapthy. I really hope it works, will be thinking of you.

We were at the Lister, too, Zita West referred us. She advised me to do as little as possible for a few days after transfer, keep my tummy area warm, but not hot(!) and think happy, embedding thoughts. The waiting game is such a nervy time, totally out of your control. Keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP x

I have had two separate blastocyst transfers from the lister and each worked and produced my two children.

I didn't do any other therapies and just carried on. First time I even went on a work trip abroad for a couple of days and tested when I got home. Second time round I had an active 22mth old to contend with and there was no way I was getting any rest!

Remember your odds are favourable having got to blast stage. Good luck. It's a long 10 day wait - keep looking at the photo of that beautiful 5 day old embryo they put back inside you and try and stay positive.

I was also advised by the lister to get on with normal life - the stats show that bed rest etc makes no difference. I just tried to take it easy and relax so no energetic work outs, lifting etc and i ensured healthy diet, plenty sleep etc. no magic solutions, just looking after myself. It worked first time.

If you believe in other therapies, go for it, they won't do any harm. Do whatever you feel comfortable with, don't force yourself to undergo any kind of treatment you don't actually enjoy and don't do anything you might regret, so you can't then beat yourself about whatever it was in case it doesnt work. Follow the path of least regret.

Good luck

Hi,

I had accupunctute on both of my IVF goes and was successful first time. I'm not saying it was this that did it but I was willing to try anything. You normally have it pre and post transfer. Worth contacting Zoe Lake and Neals yard for advice.

Good luck and do keep us informed!

Hello

just wondering if any of you have the magic formula! I had a blastocyst embryo transferred this morning. The clinic told me to just get on with life as normal and do a pregnancy test in 10 days - but I wondered if anyone on here had any advice or tips for me please? I just want it to work this time! We've spent most of our money on IVF so trying to avoid costly complementary therapies....

Thank you!
