Re-pointing a house?

by WBT3 » Mon Aug 12, 2013 4:21 pm

Could anyone recommend any brickies/builders who could repoint the front of our house?

We've been told that our house was repointed in a cement mortar which apparently is not ideal, should have been a lime mortar (apparently cement doesn't allow much movement if the weather shifts and doesn't let the the bricks release enough moisture).

So... apparently not urgent but I do need to start looking for a reliable builder. I've been told to expect ballpark price of £20 - £30 per square metre, plus scaffolding costs.

Does that sound about right to people? Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.
