Also we would never recommend sanding your floors as this is not the corect way to restore them

Quick big thumbs up to Jason jewell. He has just restored our ceilings. Had 2 quotes and Jason was the only one who pointed out that much of our cornice had been removed some years previously. He restored what was there and reinstated what had gone using our hall as a reference. He has transformed the ceilings - the detail is amazing. The man is a proper craftsman (and marginally cheaper than the other co. that quoted). Does the whole thing using water - not that horrid acid peel. Gives you the option of spray painting it afterwards which looks great.

I can recommend Jason Jewell, he's just refurbished all the cornice in our property and it was horrific before he started! His number is 07956 332144. PM me if you want to see what he's done at ours.

Hi Coffeegirl,
One of my friends pointed me towards your post as I work restoring Victorian fireplaces and tiled floors among other things.
If you'd like to take a look at my website you can see examples of my work.

Help Refurbishing Victorian Fixtures and fittings?

by Coffeegirl » Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:29 am

Hello
We are just about to buy a Victorian terrace in a state of disrepair, putting it politely.
The house hasn't had much done to it in quite of few years so still has most of the original features. The problem is that they are all in a bad way.

I would love to keep them but would need to replace, replicate or refurb and am not sure where to start or what it would cost?

Does anyone have any experience on any of the below pls?

Fireplaces: All of the internal grates are rusty and broken. Beautiful surrounding tiles are cracked or very dirty.

Original tiled hallway design: needs careful cleaning and a few tiles replaced.

Original Victorian pine floor boards: need about 12 replaced and them the whole thing sealed and sanded.

Ceiling roses: painted over so many times that the detail has been lost in a mushy clump.

I would be grateful for any pointers!

Thanks
