I'm sorry you suffered such severe pain. I hope you have recovered your health through osteopathy or massage. When there was pain in my lower back, I used a heating pad to treat neck/back. There is a certain mitigating effect, but the problem cannot be completely solved. Posture and movement are still the most important. ;)

Hello.

I've been (am) in your situation, also ex-dancer. I recognise that pain all too well. Not sure how old you are, but in my 30s and after two pregnancies I thought that my lower back would cause me to stop working, as I couldn't sit down all day.
I have tried chiropractors, physio, osteopaths etc and although I still see a chiropractor every week (and probably will have to for the rest of my life) the one thing that 'saved' me was facet joint injections.

I would recommend that you go to your doctor and start the process from there. I had x-rays and MR scans to determine the problem and from there I 've had three sets of facet joint injections (and an epidural, which didn't help).

Although I am not 100% pain free, my life has dramatically improved and most importantly I can keep working and provide for my family.

PM for more details if you wish

Try Laura Tilson osteopathy at Fybre Fitness, she is amazing and has fixed me and several of my clients lots of times. Highly reccommend and she's got £15 off first treatment.

Try Mia Robbins, massage therapist at balance bodyworks. She is amazing, nothing like a regular massage therapist - she studied in Australia and has worked with physios and knows anatomy inside out etc.
She has worked wonders on my awful neck/back and also really helped a friend of mine who has lower back pain in pregnancy.
She is very reasonable rates-wise too.
she's kensington-based unfortunately BUT does travel and can work from your home if needs be.
Honestly couldn't recc her highly enough.
Good luck!!

Or an osteopath, I've struggled with back pain for years and years and I've found osteopathy to be the best solution. I currently go to Back to Back in Earlsfield and they've been brilliant.

Terrible lower back pain :(

by latte_lady » Tue Dec 03, 2013 12:44 pm

Last year I suffered from awful lower back pain, to the point where I could barely walk and it was affecting the top of my legs too...it's happeneing again at exactly the same time of year (so assuming the cold is not helping) and I am struggling with the pain and lack of range of movement. I am a very active person normally (ex dancer) and getting very frustrated. Can anybody recommend someone local Balham/Clapham area who might be able to help me?

Thank you for your help!
