Thanks so much for the replies, all very reassuring. I think the time has come then! DH wants a specialist to do the deed and will therefore be going private so if anyone happens to have a urologist they would recommend please do let me know

We have 2 children and decided we were done. We’ve been together since we were 19 and the responsibility of the pill etc has always been on me. I wanted to go through the menopause without having anything in my system. So he went off for the snip.
His words ‘the injection is the worst bit but I swear I’ve had worse hangovers’. It was sore for 24 hours but compared to my first labour of 2 days he didn’t complain one bit.
The first ‘release’ 🤣 wasn’t comfy he said but he recommends it to anyone that listens! Massive advocates here!

I too am unable to take hormonal contraception and my husband was adamant 2 children was enough and despite being dare I say it on the more wimpy side, took himself off for the day procedure. Another friend had a general at the same sort of time. Recovery was similar for both, swelling, soreness, uncomfortable walking for a couple of days but over quickly. No complications and confirmed successful at check up. There are horror stories about any procedure I’m sure but from my experience recovery much faster than after childbirth! Good luck…

We had a similar situation and my husband finally went through with it- after hearing positive things from another friend. No regrets at all. Soreness afterwards and sure, swelling at the time, but no issues beyond that at all. It’s such a relief knowing each month there’s no stress! Good luck!

Vasectomy / the snip - anyone’s husband had one and able to say how they found it?

My husband and I have been discussing him getting a vasectomy for years, I can’t take contraception and after a recent pregnancy scare/sleepless night for both of us waiting for my period (we are 1000% ‘done’ with having babies!) we’ve decided we really need to sort it out. The issue is that he is worried, and I don’t blame him, that he’ll be left with permanent soreness or discomfort or any change in performance shall we say. It’s not helped that he’s heard a story or two from friends (testicle swelled to the size of an orange for one - temporarily I should say!) and it’s putting him off. Complication rate is apparently quite high. Has anyone’s husband had it done and have they been fine / has it left them feeling the same as before, more or less? Or has anyone’s husband had it done and regretted it? I’d be really grateful to hear anyone’s experiences with it. None of my friend’s husbands have had it done yet so I can’t easily get any inside info. Many thanks
