Also depends on your job, team meetings, etc...

If loads of work gets done on Mondays, it would be a good day to be in the office. I find Tuesdays - Thursdays is when most "work" happens so those days suit me best to keep from working on Mondays and Fridays. No point not working if you are working anyways!

If you have a job that involves being a key contact for clients etc I would recommend Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. I went back to work Tuesday-Thursday initially but found myself checking emails/taking telephone calls on Friday and Monday as having consecutive days out of the office meant people needed to contact me on my days off. I know do Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and it works really well, and it is lovely at this time on a Monday knowing I don't have to come in tomorrow!

Additional benefit is getting Bank Holiday monday along with everyone else.

Which, oddly, makes it technically better not to work Mondays.
You still get the same benefit of the day off but get to take it when you want to and as a previous poster mentioned you don't find yourself forced to use your regular vacation allowance to "pay back" the 1/5th or 2/5th of the Monday that you were not entitled to but had to take.

Also, if your child is in nursery, they don't refund Bank Hols so you end up paying for days which you can't use.

That said, some people just pyschologically prefer to know that they have a Bank holiday Monday coming up which coincides with everyone elses.

It does not matter which days you work - you are still legally entitled to have your bank holidays pro-rated --

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ ... G_10029788
If you are part time and your employer gives workers additional time off on bank holidays, this should be given pro rata to you as well, even if the bank holiday does not fall on your usual work day.

I work tues, wed, thurs - and I get my pro-rata'd days off plus bank holidays pro rata'd. So, If there are 10 bank holidays in the year, I get 6 of them to take at my convenience on Tues, Wed or Thurs. This works well for me.

I work 4 days mon to Thurs. my company policy is to pro rata bank holidays so by Christmas I have to use annual leave to cover some.

Hi, I worked Mon - weds for that reason ie to get the bank hols. It is good for that but depending on your company policy you may find you only get paid for a pro rated no of them proportionate to the days you work, if that makes sense. For me it was just nice to have the Mons off every now and then!

I just wanted to check - if you work Monday - Wednesday are you eligible for bank holidays that fall on a Monday? Similarly if you work Tuesday - Thursday are you therefore not eligible...

If there is any other advice on how to structure working three days a week I would be very grateful!

Huge, huge thanks...
