One Small Step on Northcote Road have been great so far (my daughter is on her third pair of shoes). They are super with toddlers, and are very good about not over-selling. We go every 6 weeks or so to check her shoes but haven't had to buy new shoes nearly that often. It depends on the child's growth rate, obviously. They also do their own brand of wellies for what seems like a reasonable price.

I go to Pollyanna's in Fulham. All staff are trained. The place looks tiny upstairs but downstairs is where they have all the shoes. It has an old word friendly charm about it.

Definitely Clarks to big in with for his first pair. They do six weeks guaranty service, ie if your little one's feet growing fast and the shoes ghey fitted become too small within six weeks, they offer free replacement.

I use TK max a lot for treasure hunt my son's shoes once I know the right size. Just randomly going there to see if I can find the next size up for the right season. Have bought brilliant bargain designers £10-£25 for a pair retail for £50-£150!. I still go back to Clarks after a couple of seasons for up to date measurement. I do buy their shoes after the fitting of course. :-)

Remember that because they grow fast, just buy something appropriate for the season you're in. Also, it is a new pair every 3/4 months at first, so make sure you are prepared to spend whatever you do the first time, about 4 times over the year.

Both John Lewis and Clarkes are very good with taking measurement for little feet and you can find some shoes that are quite reasonably priced in both.

My little one has just started walking so is now in need of a proper pair of shoes for when walking outdoors. Where is the best place to take him to be properly fitted? I've been told babies grow out of there shoes very quickly so am hoping for somewhere reasonably priced. Any suggestions???
