Thanks for your reply. That is definitely something to consider, thanks for pointing it out.

As previous poster has said there is no link between state and independent schools so keeping them on the state waiting lists is possible.

You will want to be aware that Independent Schools require a terms notice if you are going to remove your child from the school or you are liable for school fees and potentially deposits which have been paid. This can raise issues if a state place comes up mid way or even at the start of term as they will want you to confirm the place immediately leaving you liable for fees at the independent school where you have taken up a place which could have been offered to another child

yes you can stay on waiting lists for state schools

I just wanted to ask as I cannot work it out, if I put my child in private school in Sept, can he still be kept on waiting lists for the state schools of my first and second preference?
