Hi, my 3 year old is also long sighted. Bellmores are great and very patient as we have to bring the glasses back every few weeks, to get them put back into shape after some particularly rough handling!
My son also had to have patching of his stronger eye, which he has tolerated really well, just in case, you ned to go down that route as well!

Thank you all! we visited Bellmore, Karen Lockyer and Brompton (the last 2 before you recommended them!) but we found our fav and more suitable pair of glasses at Bellmore. I have to say for older children and adults I preferred the choices offered by Karen Lockyer and Brompton. The staff in all 3 stores were lovely and made me feel better about my little girl wearing glasses. Glad I followed my instinct and didn't listen to the GP!!

I would second the recommendation for Bromptons on Clapham high street.
The ladies in there are very kind and friendly and the optician we saw was very nice too.
By the time my daughter and I left the two receptionists had performed an amusing double act performance for my daughter including magic tricks and a little dance! Obviously I can't promise this happens every time but my daughter and I had a good chuckle about it!

I have always used Bromptons on Clapham high Street for my 3 kids, very friendly and helpful. They will happily answer all your questions and also seem to be able to fix broken glasses quickly ( my middle child has broken or lost his(fell off in a river) 4 times this year)

Firstly well done for persevering and getting her diagnosed. With long sighted ness, the sooner you get them into glasses, the better the eventual outcome. I take my two ( in glasses from 2.5 and 18 months respectively) to Karen Lockyer. I pay for their glasses because we see a private ophthalmologist so have a private prescription. I find Karen Lockyer brilliant with kids.

They can retest her and give you the prescription and order the glasses for you

Have you considered changing GP?

Just found out my 3 year old needs to wear glasses :( We took her for a private specialist visit after the GP refused to refer her (even if lots of people, including nursery staff keep noticing the squint :evil: ) and she has been diagnosed severely long-sighted. Do you have any recommendation on where to get her glasses from? Also, should we get sunglasses with the correction too (we are going on hol soon and with summer coming? she always complains about the sun). Finally I heard that NHS should give a voucher for glasses for under 16...will I get that even if the prescription was done by a private doctor? and if so, how?
