Really sorry for the delay in replying.
I don't know what the wood is, but my neighbours have a wood burning stove and they've collected as much as they can store, and it's all gone now so it must have been of use to others.

Do you know what tree it is? Some wood is good for burning, others take a long time to cure and aren't good at all!

Hi all, a very large tree has just been chopped down in the North Mitcham community centre on Woodland Way, CR4 2DZ, next to Number 47. Come and get asap before it all goes!
