Spring is a great time to start planning and executing a design and build project. If you're looking for reliable experts to bring your vision to life, I suggest checking out design and build contractors London. They offer comprehensive services tailored to meet your needs and ensure a seamless experience from start to finish. Their attention to detail and quality makes them a great choice for any project.

Falconmum,

I can HIGHLY recommend our builder, Martin Borys, New Smart Living. They've been working on our house (Wandsworth) now for a few months and the quality of work and level of detail and communication has been exceptional. If you want to come to see their work on our house (full and complete gut and renovation job) and previous projects they've done in and around Clapham and Wandsworth, drop our builder an email: Martin@newsmartliving.co.uk . Martin is a seriously great builder. My husband and I have completed a few projects with various builders around London, but Martin stands out hands down. Invitation stands to see our site ...

Please please please be so careful about who you choose, go with a company who has a long standing history of recommendations from people you know or can talk to for references.
To echo this point, we do try to remove all the businesses who recommend themselves and we do tend to catch most of them but if there are any that slip through please do shout!

Thanks and good luck!

We have had some real bad luck with getting quotes this time :( Not sure if it is us or there are better more lucrative projects out there .
Oh dear - sorry to hear that. Our work was an extension and it was quite a big job, but I often heard them discussing smaller projects. Spring and good weather on the way (hopefully..) and maybe smaller jobs are not of interest to them. Sorry to have led you down the wrong route  , but they really were great builders for us!

hi

I have recently used Shane at Bespoke conversions (http://www.buildersclapham.co.uk/) for a loft conversion right before Christmas - he and his team were amazing polite, respectful, tidy - when there was an issue ( a leak discovered at 10pm) Shane was there within minutes to fix it. They worked to a very tight deadline and were flexible in their approach. I like working with Shane and plan to do so again in the future! If you want to see his work let me know and will happily show you round.

Good luck!

We are going through the quoting process at the minute and have more or less decided who to go with.

It's really important to obtain a through quote and if a builder cannot be bothered to make the effort to do this (as happened with us) then you have to question their ethics.

Using a QS at this stage for quoting is useless as they cannot lost each item in detail and builders won't and don't like to use the QS sheet to work from. It's a HUGE waste of money right now. Further down the line it could be useful but only when separate from the builders.

If you use an architect and they recommend builders they usually charge 10-15% of the build fee, we obtained quotes and in some cases there was a difference of 500K so again go and get lots of quotes then narrow them down to the finer details.

Those who can be bothered about coming to see you and answering lots of questions are generally those who have better quality work. Make sure you go and see the work that they have done too.

Good luck

I second LP73 post!

I'm in the trade and I see too many families left distraught after they've had bodge builders, we are forever cleaning up their shoddy work and it's heartbreaking to watch what the families go through. And shocking to see what the builders leave behind the nicely painted walls that you can't see!!!

Please please please be so careful about who you choose, go with a company who has a long standing history of recommendations from people you know or can talk to for references.

I'm a female electrician so I know lots of brilliant trustworthy tradespeople and contractors, if you need any recommendations just get in touch xx

Anymore suggestions welcome
We used a local company called Cahirbridge for a full refurbishment including some extensive carpentry work - very pleased with the results and were actually a little cheaper than estimated which is unusual these days! Their number is 020 8677 2704 or mobile is Ian on 07889 223186

Hello,

We have previously used Ashville Inc, completed a refurbishment and extension. Absolutely great, the builders where very polite and kept out the way just getting the job done, and the standards of finish was perfect.

Heres there website www.ashvilleinc.com.

Hope this helps with your search, I know if can be stressful finding the right company we got quotes from three others and chose Ashville although they were not the cheapest we had no extra costs which was perfect for our budget.

Don't forget that if you plan your mirrors and art work before hand, they won't look like an add on after the interiors are finished. I'm happy to give you a free visit to talk about what you might want and how it can best be installed.

Hi falconmum,

I'm sorry to hear that, please accept my apologies for this.

We have just had our website redesigned by a new web company as there were problems with the original website we had built.

I will look into this for you, when did you first enquire?

Kind Regards
