Re: Nurseries in Balham/Wandsworth Common

I think we are pretty well served by some fantastic nurseries in the Balham area, but, like the previous posters, my recommendation would also have to be Oaktree Nursery on Ramsden Road. All of my children (including the one that is still there!) have just loved their time at Oaktree. The range of a...

Re: Belleville/Honeywell first offer distance?

I don't post very frequently on this site, but having read the way in which this thread is going feel I have to pitch in. I really do understand the anxiety and frustration of so many parents who either have tried and failed to get their child into a good state primary school BTC and in the Nighting...

Re: Rapunzel Party Entertainer

Have you tried Mystical Fairies? They're based in Hampstead and have a huge range of entertainers who will travel all round London. I (and several friends) have used them a couple of times and would highly recommend them for a little one's party. They definitely do a 'Rapunzel' party. Their website ...

Re: Nightingale triangle catchment area?

I am no expert on the Ravenstone catchment area, but the recent rule change in the way distance is measured (straight line rather than shortest lit walking route) may benefit people living in Tantallon/Gosberton etc and going by previous years' admissions (prior to this year's intake) may be mislead...

Re: John Lewis delivery at Balham Waitrose

I asked in store and was told that the freeze on deliveries lasts until 10th November, due to having to store fireworks. It's definitely not a permanent change. Balham is the second busiest "collect from store" point and JL are very unlikely to make the change permanent.

Re: TK Maxx in Balham

To end the speculation, it's definitely going to be a TK Maxx. It's now on the company's website as a "new store" opening in October 2012 (although, by the look of the site, the builders are going to have to do a lot of work in the coming weeks!)

Re: Battersea Park Jubilee Festival

I might be able to help with some answers to a few of the posts. After much calling round today, I found out that every person - even a 1 year old - does need a ticket. Also, do check on the Pageant website to find out which bridges are open and closed. Some of them - and I think Albert Bridge is on...

Re: Battersea Park Diamond Jubilee

I have emailed you privately about this as the number you have put in your post doesn't work. Please get in touch if you are still interested in swapping as I may be able to help.

Re: Holy Ghost catchment area

To answer your first question, Holy Ghost doesn't have a fixed catchment area. Whether a child from any given street gets a place will depend on how many siblings are in a particular year and then how close the remaining "non-sibling" children live. Both factors can lead to large variation...

Re: primary schools - holy ghost, st anselms, st boniface

I sympathise with your dilemma! I have been in a similar position to yours in a previous year. When I submitted my child's application, I put HG as the first choice (like you, we are weekly attendees at Mass at HG) and then St Anselm's as the second choice. When doing this, I realised that the chanc...
