Re: What to expect?

Hi eclaire, This happens to me all the time when I use disabled loos, as I don’t “look” disabled at first view, but watch me on stairs and you will soon see my knees don’t work. I get constant comments about the “disabled loo being for disabled people” and how I respond really depends on my mood. So...

Re: Parkgate House School parents' views

Hello, my daughter is at Parkgate House School now and we are very happy with it. She has been there since nursery (2 1/2 years old) and we chose it specifically for its nurturing style, family atmosphere and non selective approach, as well as its small and personal feel. It has been an excellent pl...

Free second hand Football Boots

Hello everyone, Does anyone know of a local organisation that could use second hand football boots? My kids always outgrow them so fast and they have plenty of life in them yet. It seems a shame to recycle them as they can be used as they are - and I'm not sure if it is the kind of thing people woul...

Questions about divorce

Hello,  This is a question for all you divorced people out there. My husband and I are separated and trying to work things out amicably. Historically he works and I don't, so all the power is on his side and we have two children who are of school age (end of junior/beginning of senior). We are tryin...

Nappy Valley Schools Guide

How do I get hold of a copy of the Nappy Valley Schools Guide?

Friends at school have been talking about it, but we have not been lucky enough to have one drop through our door - where can I get it from?

Thanks  ;)

Re: Burglary in the early hours of Sunday - Range Rover Stolen - Crashes at high speed near Swaby play area

This happened in Harbut Road as well a few months back - that time they crashed into another car with such force that they shunted it onto the pavement! It happened in the early afternoon and the perpetrators simply ran off! These incidents plus the awful muggings seem to be increasing. Very worrying.

Re: Tutor 7+

Just to counter the idea that a child needs 2 years tutoring to get into a grammar school - and this is purely anecdotal based on my own experience: my son and I did 9 months of Bond and other branded practice papers (but a lot of practice papers as his marks would leap up and down from paper to pap...

Re: Dolphin House vs Parkgate House

Hello, I didn't reply sooner as I was hoping that some more of the Parkgate parents with boys would reply but I would like to point out that the number of boys in the Prep Department of the school varies hugely. In some years there is a dearth of boys in the final years but in my daughter's year (sh...

Re: Professional oven cleaners - does anyone have a recommendation please?!

Sorry to hop on this thread but my oven is a source of embarrassment to me - can I ask if it is a messy or smelly procedure? Am keen to get it done but am not well so can't make more work for myself at the moment.

In the past I have always attempted it myself and been left gasping for breath!

WANTED: moving boxes

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any clean and dry moving boxes they no longer need? We are having some building work done and will need to pack up half the house and so thought I might check and see if anyone had any boxes they have finished with that they were about to chuck out/recyc...

Cleaning Service Recommendations

Hello, I am keen to get some recommendations for a cleaning service for our house! We have been without a cleaner for a little while and my good intentions of taking on these tasks myself is failing miserably!!!! I would rather have a service/company, than an individual person, perhaps two people go...

Re: Recommendations for Nanny Agencies please !

Abbeville Nannies - no hesitation - they are absolutely brilliant. They have helped me with short term placements and full times nannies - and when a Nanny I had booked to come after my second child was born dropped out because her sister in law was sick and she needed to care for her nephews and ni...

Etiquette conundrum - help required urgently!

Yes, I have left it too late to order a gift for a grown up nephew and now I am in a complete tizzy!!!! The item can have initials engraved on it and I don't know what to do: his name for the sake of argument is Alex de Mosta - do I initial it "ADM" or "AdM". Personally I think t...
