Good (not too expensive) home removals company?

Hello there,

Can anybody recommend a good, not too expensive, removals company? After months of job applications and worry about jobs, my husband has got a new job in Reading, which means we are moving away from Nappy Valley, so it's bittersweet, as I love it here!

Thank you so much.

Re: Brio vs. Thomas Tank train set

Hello, Pretty much all the wooden train sets now are compatible (off the top of my head this includes Thomas, Brio, BigJigs, Tesco, Ikea and so on) My 2.2 year old has a mixture of Thomas, Brio, Bigjigs and Tesco pieces and they all work together. The only things that don't work so well are the Brio...

Re: MMR and Autism Link

The vehemence of some of these responses is unnecessary. I think making a subject like this out of bounds is more damaging to MMR uptake than a friendly, open discussion where people can put others’ minds at risk or, at ‘worst’, encourage them to do some research themselves. This is why some people ...

Re: Northcote Road Carnival Cancelled

As a fellow Northcote Road resident, I do understand Scrooge’s frustration (although I don't think your vehemence is earning you any friends!). We knew when we moved in that it would be noisy – we have single glazing and you can hear everything, including drunken conversations on the street on a Fri...

Re: Is Crumpet Northcote Rd closing?

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's one of the few places that has a decent-sized children's play area, and the food is lovely too.

Re: Weather looking iffy - what to do?

To be honest, I don't think I can beat the above suggestion (will definitely keep that in mind!), but on rainy days I love hopping on the bus up to South Kensington and going to either the Natural History Museum or the Science Museum. My toddler loves the Science Museum in particular, as it's got th...

Re: Coffee shops with play areas?

Thanks everyone. I went to Coffee 1st and it was lovely. I'll be trying Under The Greenwood Tree next time! Also very interested in the possibility of a peaceful Sunday roast. Last time we did that, I spent most of the meal trying to keep my food on the table (the grumpy squirming baby on my lap was...

Re: How many naps should a 18 month old have?

I try not to let mine sleep more than an hour and a half in the day (usually any time between nine and eleven), and he goes to bed around 7:15pm, and is usually up again between 5:45 and 6:30am. Not long ago though, he was waking in the night and/or up at around 5am. I thought he was getting too muc...

Coffee shops with play areas?

Or indeed, small play areas with tea/coffee facilities! I am familiar with the brilliant Crumpet and Battersea Arts Centre, but now that Autumn is closing in on us, it'd be great to know of any other reasonably non-chaotic places I can relax with a hot drink (and possibly a sneaky cake), while my 18...

Re: Play dates for 18 month old boy

I can vouch that Tara is super nice too, and her baby is the most gorgeous, friendly little guy! :D Clapham Common next week sounds great. Thursday afternoon suits me fine, although I'm also free other times during the week if that doesn't work out for everyone else.

Re: Play dates for 18 month old boy

Hi Jetsettingbaby and Dancing Queen. I live on Northcote Road (near Battersea Rise) and have an 18 month old son, who, incidentally, loves cuddles and won't be daunted! I'm sure he would love to meet your boys, so if you are around any time, please PM me :)

Found - little red tractor soft toy on Lavender Hill

I picked up a lonely looking little soft red tractor toy near the edge of the pavement on Lavender Hill today (just after 3pm on 10/08/11). It looks well-loved. If you know its owner, please contact me so that they can be reunited.

Re: Views on Grove Hall & Northcote Gardens Nurseries

My 13 month old son has recently started at Grove Hall nursery and I'm really happy with it so far. The staff are lovely and provide a very caring atmosphere. He was a little upset when I left for the first time (as is to be expected) but the staff distracted him almost immediately and he was absolu...
