Re: State schools in Battersea and Clapham

We moved to Tooting years ago to have access to better schools.  We had choices from Fircroft, Rutherford, Ravenstone and Tooting Primary.  Would not recommend Tooting Primary anymore. It has really gone downhill. Have heard good things about Ravenstone.  Our academically inclined son went to Ruther...

Re: How to help my teenage daughter with a weight issue?

Echo Abbevillemummy... Acknowledging your daughter and her concerns is important. You are not helping her by ignoring the issue and acknowledging in a positive way will not trigger an eating disorder. She already has a negative self image by the sounds of it, so you need to address the root cause.  ...

Re: Is it worth getting an Amex card?

We have had BA Amex Blue for 10 years and it was worth it for the companion voucher etc. However, recently they have increased the qualifying spend on both the Blue and Premium BA Amex cards so that is a bummer and also the amount of Avios you receive and spend has become quite expensive.  We are no...

Re: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED : The ridiculous Labour 'Private School VAT' scam ...

This is actually useful for those of us who the 20% hike will make it impossible for our child to attend private school as we had planned next year. For those talking about 3 day jaunts to Singapore, that's not what it's like for everyone so check that chip on your shoulder. Some people make *actua...

Re: Handwriting course

hi! We have exactly the same problem with ours.  Over the years, we have tried handwriting courses, even a private tutor to help with handwriting.  However, after term 1 in the school, the school agreed to assess him and he is now on the word processor (even for exams) for English and all humanities...

Re: Holidaying in Israel - looking for advice, recommendations etc.

We did everything ourselves including flight tickets and bookings. We did Jordan and Israel actually so flew into Amman and out of Tel Aviv. Used Booking.com for hotels etc and Expedia/booking.com for local excursions. Our itinerary was pretty loose so we googled local options and went with the flow...

Re: Holidaying in Israel - looking for advice, recommendations etc.

We were in Israel over Easter holidays. It was a very interesting experience.  We spent more time in Jerusalem with day trips to Bethlehem (Palestine side), Dead Sea, River Jordan and a nature reserve. You can also do a trip to Jerash!  It is experiencing living history esp on that side of the world...

Re: Candles that have a lasting scent

I am not a big fan but wax melts seem to be more sustainable and longer lasting than candles. The other option as a poster mentioned is Essential oils in a diffuser. If you get a warming one, it lasts a lot longer and the smell will linger on because of the natural essential oils. It's non toxic and...

Re: Advice regarding Emanuel School

hi !  We have just accepted a 10+ place for our son at Emanuel. I had similar reservations about the school as it seems to still be an emerging school but we visited the school last week.  The school seems to have strong ethos. They are certainly driven to do well academically as they are working th...

Reviews on 10+ in Emanuel School

Hi! Would love some reviews / insights on Emanuel , esp. from boy mums.  We are considering our options there.  ;) ;) Edit : So to give further context, we were considering an all boys school earlier. My son is a quiet, non sporty type. He is more keen on chess than football. He is also keen on dram...
