Re: Realistic gross salary of live out nanny for one year olds?

Anything between £10-12 NET per hour is typical of a nannyshare.
For a gross wage, check out the nanny tax calculator!

So for £10 Net per hour for 10 hour days (M-Th) = £574 gross pw.

Re: holidays and nanny pay

I agree with all above. Most nanny contracts should state that out of the 4 weeks holiday, you choose two weeks and the nanny gets to choose two weeks If you take extra holiday on top of your chosen two weeks, then your nanny should be paid in full as she hasn't chosen to take that time off. If it i...

Re: Nanny advice urgently needed, please!

Hi, I run a nanny agency and would be happy offer any advice that you need. Nannies will work on short-term temporary positions. Nannies are usually employed rather than self-employed. There are nanny payroll companies that will help you organise the nannies tax and NI. Depending on what sort of nan...

Re: What extras do you pay for your nanny?

If you require your nanny to drive her own car for work then the family would need to pay a petrol allowance and parking. If she does not need to drive it, but chooses to to go to and from work, then it is her cost. Lunches, public transport and activities that she does whilst working with your chil...

Re: Aupair novice... whats reasonable???

Balham mummy has covered most of it! Definitely remember that they are not a nanny. They can only work 25-35 hours per week depending on where they are from and I they are an au pair or au pair plus. Au pairs are also not supposed to have sole charge of children under the age of 2. Contact an agency...

Re: is 2.5 y/o too young to learn a musical instrument?

Have you thought about taking her to a Monkey Music class? At the age of three, they teach a child all about counting music, learning about the different instruments and everything needed before stepping into playing an instrument. It would be a good idea to do a class like this first and then move ...

Re: Amber Teething Necklaces?

I believe that they work.
Even if they don't, there's no harm in trying it.

I have always used them and have found that none of my charges have suffered with teething problems at all!

Re: Suggestions for a good family friendly ski resort?

I agree with Morzine! It is wonderful with children! Great ski schools (I recommend The British ski school and international, don't go with Ecole Ski Francais). I nannied there many years ago. There is a little train, in door pool and spa, in door and out door ice rinks, a park and little farm. It's...

Re: cows milk or formula milk after 1 year??

It is very much a personal choice, but I personally would suggest cow's milk. Your child should be eating healthy balanced meals now full of everything they need that they shouldn't need the follow-on milk. I think it is just a way for the company's to open up to a larger market and to make more mon...

Re: Balance Bike Recommendations

I would suggest not getting a wooden one as they can be so bulky and heavy! Try and make it as easy as possible for you!! I loved the MICRO (same as scooter make) one but can't find it online. It was so easy to carry and fitted really well on top of a buggy too! I found this one though that is very ...
