My wife is a determined killer of spiders (when I am not around to catch them and put them outside, that is). I have tried to explain to her that by killing them she is making the spider gene pool sneakier and better able to hide, and that it's therefore better to let the dumb ones that stand around...

On thing on the BT 250, which we also have: battery life is terrible, and the batteries are non-standard sizes (even though they look like AA at first glance). If you order them direct from BT they are very expensive; but you can get them cheaper on Amazon/eBay.

She's fine - they really don't seem to be bothering her too much. I'm hopeful that we will end up with just a watching brief for the time being.
