Re: Do you tip packers and movers?

As with everything - if you really liked their service and you thought they went above their duty, then yes, a little tip is a good way of showing your gratitude. That said, if they just did their job, don't give in to the American way and just tip for the sake of it. I find that increasingly everyo...

Re: preparing for 2nd baby, what can you advice me?

Totally agree with Widger. My 2 sons have a 30 month gap exactly so my eldest was 2.5 yrs exactly when youngest was born. Not the best time to have another one come on board as boys get so full on when they're 2/3 yrs old. I was really scared out of my mind that I wouldn't cope, even more so that we...

Re: preparing for 2nd baby, what can you advice me?

Sleep as much as you can now, enjoy going out while lo is being taken care of and also travel now... All of this will be much harder when 2nd one comes along, at least for the first few months.

Re: MMR 2nd Jab - 18 Months?

You're probably right although it's best to just call the NHS or your GP to check. When we lived in Clapham Old Town, they told me to take my son back for his 2nd jab at 15 months. I've had such a mind boggling experience with this 2nd MMR jab! Living in Clapham Old Town they told me to go back 3 mo...

Re: Accomodation in Bath

Best I can recommend is Laura's flats - http://www.laurastownhouseapartments.co.uk/

By far, the best value in town + it's so much easier having a flat than a hotel room with little ones.

Re: Stay in London or move out??

Moved nearly a year ago to Surrey (for 2 months) then West Sussex and not missing London AT ALL! I didn't enjoy Surrey (Esher) so much but so far so good in West Sussex. Fantastic for our 1 yr old and I have been sooo busy. Although I LOVE London and was very happy there, I actually dread going ther...

Re: Newborn summer baby due - what do I need pls?!?!?

No problem, Pod! I got the organic jersey cot fitted sheets from Carrefour (they come in packs of 2 - 1 colour + 1 white but colours are nice). I'd say get 3 or 4 packs, you use them for so long. I only ever use jersey fitted sheets (for our bed as well) as they're so soft and you just pop them in t...

Re: Newborn summer baby due - what do I need pls?!?!?

Forgot to say, def. get loads of organic jersey fitted cot sheets. Again, got these in France - am French - but I've seen them around, at John Lewis I think. We changed these about 5 times a day. Re-sleeping, George never took to swaddling and sleeping bags (he only started using these when he was a...

Re: Newborn summer baby due - what do I need pls?!?!?

My son was born in June and for me the most important was for him to be as comfortable as possible. He lived in soft jersey and in particular all in ones (with feet!) most of the time. What I changed was the type of undervest he would wear. Sometimes long sleeve, sometimes short sleeves, sometimes (...

Re: Looking for a summer rental in Sussex

Susannah, I was driving through Cowdray park today and remembered they have holiday cottages. That's quite a glorious location and lots to do around there for the whole family. Look up "Cowdray holiday cottages" on google. Re-East Sussex, you can go down a bit towards Rushlake Green. Dalli...

Re: How do i get rid of mice?

As Haggis said, get a cat.
When we had our cat, we never saw one single mouse other than one that he killed in the kitchen in just one pounce a few years ago.
That said, only go for younger cats as they start getting lazy when they're older and not so efficient ;)

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

Always the business rates and for most, the exhorbitant rentals. You really wonder how any shop manages to stay afloat these days. We're going to end up with only Sainsburys, Boots and Tesco locals (mind you, we're nearly there now)...

Re: Vet

Would also recommend David Cuffe on Abbeville road. They took care of our beloved cat so well until he died. They were really reactive, humane and caring with him. Rose was wonderful. Our neighbours also used them for their cat and were also happy "clients". On a practical note, you can ea...

Re: Looking for a summer rental in Sussex

Hi Susannah, we used to live in Clapham Old Town and recently moved to Sussex. We spent so much time going around East and West Sussex, we pinpointed the nicer areas as the following: For East Sussex, the area between Mayfield, Burwash, Ticehurst and Wadhurst. It's not too far from the sea and about...
