Letting agents - recommendation?

We are looking to rent our house in Streatham Common out for a year while we go travelling. We are aware that there's an "overspill" from Balham who are now looking in this area where we are close to two stations and a big park. Therefore, we are going to contact some estate agents in Balh...

Danish group in South London

I have notice a few groups being promoted here in NVN so thought I'd mention a group of Danish parents and their kids who meet oncea months. We sing Danish nursery rhymes, do creative activities and nurse Danish traditions ie at Christmas and fastelavn. There is also time for free play and a chat! O...

Calling Danish parents

I would like to promote a group of Danish parents who meets with their children (and occasionally partners) once a month in South London. We sing Danish nursery rhymes and teach our children about Danish traditions, ie at Christmas or fastelavn. We do crafty activities but there is also time for fre...

Re: Birthday cake topper

Thanks everyone, really helpful advice. Her grandmother is arriving tonight, she may have the patience to make one. Otherwise, we may either go to Tooting Sewing & Craft store or probably follow Taloulas advice! Great ideas! Many thanks

Re: Birthday cake topper

I was planning to bake the cake myself, but have seen on the Internet that you can get a 'topper' to put on top. So I am wonder where I might be able to buy one of those! I bought a cake from Sainsbury last year and it was actually surprisingly good! But ai like baking myself:-)

Dentist near Streatham

I'm a bit anxious about taking my kids to the dentist as my 2 1/2 year old is very shy and easily freaks out in new situations and my little one is in that phase where she's not great with strangers. I understand that Dr Williams in Clapham is supposed to be v good, but does anyone know of anyone wh...

Upholstery

Oh dear, the fabric on our sofa has worn through and it is really a bad time as I've been off work for a long time and get no more maternity pay. On top of that my husband loves the sofa almost as much as his children :) so it's not a great time to invest in a new sofa and as my husband would really...

Re: Looking for a Jazz club/bar for hubby's 40th...

The Hidaway in Streatham is apparently famous (not into jazz myself but this is what I've been told). Have only ever been for comedy nights, it's a nice venue!

Re: Bodysuits - where to find the best?

My favourites are Petit Bateau and Mark and Spencer's. The latter especially very affordable too.

Re: Appropriate present for cleaner

I must admit I haven't thought about giving extra pay. I give our lovely cleaner a present. Last year a big gift box from Bodyshop.

Re: Parenting books recommendations wanted

I'm not a big fan of parenting manuals but really like 'What every parent needs to know'. It obviously depends on your parenting style, but I'm not into crying it out, strict discipline etc and this book gives alternatives. And it's not a manual that you need to follow step by step but more inspirat...

Re: DJ Recommendations

Dan Barnard of Event Sound Solutions is brilliant! Through having friends in common Ive heard him play a few times and he really knows how to get a party going. And more importantly, he really listens to what kind of music the host wants (I've been to quite a few weddings where this had not been the...
