Re: Neilson vs Mark Warner v Club Med

I've only been to Neilsons with teenagers, but we went on Mark Warner holidays a lot when the children were tiny - in fact we were among the first families to use their baby clubs when they opened them. Club Med is the all-round brilliant looker-afterer, but the English doesn't always add up to enou...

Re: Recommendation for holiday cottage with pool please?

What you want is our cottage at Tregenna Castle, formerly the stables but now exceedingly comfortable (even a dishwasher). We own it on a timeshare basis, so it is clean and well kept and stairgates, cot and highchair are available if you book early enough, so you don't have to take masses of kit wi...

Re: Has anyone been to Woolley Grange?

We went to Woolley Grange when it first started the Woolley Bears Den way back when..... My son, then very small, slipped his hand into my husband's at the end of his first day and said 'Tom happy daddy, Tom VERY happy'. I'm assuming it is just as wonderful of course, but I'm sure it is. Tom is now ...

Re: Holiday in the Canary Islands, suggestions please!

I've just come back from a week in Lanzagrotte. I'd say Playa Blanca would be an ideal place with a youngster - lovely walks on a properly made path all the way along the seafront - you can walk for miles even with a buggy! (we were there originally when mine were 4 & 18m). There is always a win...

Fantastic holiday opportunity

Planned a summer holiday yet? No? Want to be sure of actually getting there rather than sitting in a crowded airport with delays? I am again letting two of our three timeshare weeks at Tregenna in Cornwall and as usual for a fraction of what it would cost if the management were charging you! We have...

Re: Holidays with Childcare/Babysitting available? Advice Needed

We've done Woolly Grange (fantastic but expensive) and just about every Club Mark Warner and Ski Esprit when the kids were small (our youngest was in the first 'baby club' in Cap d'Or in Greece! If you aren't hell bent on spending time in airport lounges and if you like the west coutnry, we have thr...

45% discount this year!

We have three weeks in two different fantastic cottages just outside St Ives in Cornwall - about 7mins from the beach (bit more coming back up the hill). They were originally the stables for the big house, now a hotel. You get the use of indoor and outdoor pools, badminton, squash, tennis - loads of...

Re: little girls wearing bikini's

You don't say how old your daughter is. I deplore the idea of bras for 7 year olds but most 'bikinis' for little girls tend to be more a bottom with a frilled cropped top, don't they. I think they look cute. However, maybe if she is 9 or 10 you might suggest that swimsuits are a touch more sophistic...

Re: Mother slapping her child

I was interested by your letter just because I witnessed two events at the same time in a playground recently. We can't always be the perfect parent, but this is what I saw. One mother quietly explained to the child that she could have 3 slides and then they were going to Tescos and would come back ...

Re: Nanny boyfriend rules

Re boyfriends. You should follow your instincts. I had any number of nannies and aupairs, in other words live-in help. We always said no to boyfriends - who wants to be bumping into a strange young man in the mornings? Why would you want to fund his showers, probably washing too, and possible breakf...

Re: protecting leather car seats from baby seats?

It is nearly 20 years since I needed a car seat, but we used one of those doormats that is a copy of a DirtTrapper mat (ie cotton top/washable with a rubber backing). Use it upside down so the soft cotton is against the lovely new leather and the rubber stops the car seat slipping about Have fun! sh...

Re: did you get a ring for giing birth?

I got a Rolex Oyster for my first but nothing for my second! But honestly, 23 years on I can honestly say your baby is your gift - a gift to each other. I mean, how many of you gave your husbands/partners a gift for making it happen?!
