Re: Ravenstone - Dec 2013 Ofsted

there are many many other aspects that should be judged.....Ofsted is only one and not one that measures the happiness or holistic education of your child. Go and see for yourself, don't rely on government led judgements based on two day visits that tell very little and are often led by those who kn...

Re: Baby car seat woes

Hi. Gosh, I had the same. At around the same age, my son began to scream frighteningly and would only stop when he cried himself to sleep. This could be an hour and was just awful. I was so stressed driving, running red lights to get there, feeling so wound up etc. I did try everything and took lots...

Re: Local State Schools - Give us a clue

best advice...and I have been a teacher for more than twenty years....go and visit the school and get a feel for it. The test results and the Ofsted gradings tell you very little about the school or how good the teaching and practice is nor how well your own child would thrive there.....

Re: Tutors -

Harrison Allen is a great agency. Not sure what they charge but I do work though them as well as privately. Going rate currently around £35 an hour. Hope that helps.

Re: Personally recommended tutors ?

Without any judgement on anyone who only wants the best for their child.... Harrison Allen are very good and can usually match the tutor to your needs and child. Google for their website. I also do tutoring, but with someone that age it would be lots of fun and creative stuff and confidence building...

Re: Recommend a good breastfeeding/lactation consultant plea

Sharon George via NCT was invaluable by phone. Claire Byam Cook introduced me to nipple shields after 6 weeks of my newborn not sucking and the horrors of expressing for that whole time. I had dozens on midwives, NCT people, drop in clinics and goodness knows what else prior to that. The nipple shie...

Re: 50 grand a year for a tutor

The system is very much at fault. But...I am a tutor and work very hard to do the best for the children I tutor. Be very wary of hiring a tutor who 'guarantees' results or success.....this is not possible to do given the test situation and the individual and personal nature of tutoring! The going ra...

Re: What Baby Sling to buy!?

just to add to loving the Boba, our baby has never faced out, he loves facing in and the position is such that he can see everything and loves it. It can also go on your back so baby can face out

Easy to use and great features like key/bag holder and little pockets
