Re: Plans for Tooting Lido upgrade are revealed

Thanks for this information, I hadn't realised it was closed and was looking forward to visiting soon.  It's great that it is having a revamp but I really hope it won't change the nature of the place. Their idea of 'tired' facilities is my idea of 'unfussy'! And I'm really sad that it now looks like...

Re: Girls who have bullied my daughter now going to her preferred secondary school. What should she / I do?

I agree with the above posters, but have a different perspective. Exactly this situation happened with my daughter - we had a school that was probably the top preference, but two girls that had made her last year of primary very unhappy also chose it. On offer holders day I did speak to the school a...

Re: After school nanny eating our food

Really unpleasant posts on this thread. She was asking for advice. I think she's probably got that now.

Re: Website connecting Ukrainian refugees to UK households

Can you link to it? I can't find your site online amidst all the other refuge listings.

Re: Handwriting

Not sure I know what your last sentence means... Do you mean 'obsession' ? A big proportion of schoolwork and homework is done in handwriting, as are exam scripts. A lot of subjects require essays to be written, so that might be several pages of A4. As kids move up school, they may end up doing A le...

Re: Husband wants to cut back on our lifestyle and won't let me ask my parents for help

And a cautionary tale from me. Our friend married a lovely woman a few years ago. Her parents were determined to 'help' them out. They bought them a home as a wedding present - in the same village as them. Husband didn't want to accept, but was eventually persuaded to. Once they moved in, they saw t...

Handwriting

My son (13) is doing well at school, but in his most recent report many subject teachers mentioned that he needs to work on legibility.  His handwriting has always been poor, despite much effort, and even after a course of Magic Link lessons that did help a lot in Year 6, but which have not 'stuck' ...

Re: shocked by difference between work husband and home husband

Not quite the same but yes, can often hear my husband speaking in a tone I wouldn't; also, I do training sessions in my job and when he occasionally does training sessions in his I really dislike how he runs them (overly self-deprecating!) My advice is, politely, to stay out of it; the pandemic has ...

Re: Can a tutor do this?

Thanks so much for all the responses on this thread - sorry, I hadn't had any notifications! Hema - he now has been assessed and granted more time.
He is quite relieved I think. Invisiblewoman - thanks for those ideas, very helpful. Games always good! Thanks. Sam (Tom)

Can a tutor do this?

Hi, My son will be doing the 11+ next year. He's bright and is being well prepared by his school. His only weak spot is writing - he has some weaknesses in his hands which an OT is addressing which means writing is quite a lot of effort for him. The school has suggested a tutor might be able to help...
