Re: Do electric cars work for you in practice especially for longer journeys?

We made the jump a couple of years back and are pleased with our EV. We're lucky enough to have off-street parking which makes everyday charging easy If you can charge locally fairly easily you will find it really convenient. I also find that if I go pretty much anywhere, charging whilst it's parked...

Re: Graveney Waiting List

No idea, but anyway, she's now been offered a place which is great. So for future reference - 25th to being accepted took from March to End-May. It just shows how much movement there is in school places. Not sure what the in induction process will be like with the world as it is right now but hopefu...

Graveney Waiting List

So our DD has done very well but missed out on Graveney selection in the initial place allocation. Judging by previous years she has a sporting chance of getting in by 31st August based on her test score - although the waiting list is pretty long. Does anyone have insight about how much the waiting ...

Re: New free schools - popularity

877m is a huge change on last year and shows that people must be considering it much less risky than last year..

Two years ago when Ravenstone stood out as the most popular school in the area it had a catchment of about 700m. So two years in for RHS, I think that shows a reasonable endorsement.

Re: Experiences of Rutherford House

Sorry to see you've been ignored MVM. It's going pretty well. We now have a school, which is nice! By which I mean that the building work has finished and the children are in their proper classrooms, with all the facilities such as library, break-out rooms etc in place. We're happy with our choice. ...

Re: Roofing specialist recommendation, please

I have some previous here. I needed some work done on a minor leak. Got one outfit in based on one of those web "let a builder quote" type sites. Ended up with a company that charged me for 2 people for a day but actually just put a lad up on the roof for a few hours to slop a bit of cemen...

Re: Experiences of Rutherford House

Hi there. I asked Gina Nicholson, the School Head about this at drop-off last week - been meaning to post here for a few days. The marketing spiel for the school last year stated that class sizes would be 28. This year's first intake was on that basis. The new Head took the decision to bring the cla...

Re: Experiences of Rutherford House

I must say I was concerned by the first few posts, but it seems to have balanced now. :) For what it's worth, our (eldest) daughter is at RHS and is doing really well. Very happy. We are very happy with the level of teaching and the school in general. All this stuff about cliques sounds a bit silly ...

Re: Battersea Park Adventure Playground

We were there last weekend. I think it's great. Still aimed at older kids, but it is possible to at least bring younger ones in (we have 2YO twin boys) without worrying too much about their safety - given the normal level of supervision. our 4 1/2 YO daughter enjoyed it, although she wasn't anywhere...

Re: Rutherford House Admissions

Papinian - good points well made.
Applying for schools for ones first-born is a terrible combination of an important decision and a painstaking process in my view! Roll on September.

Re: Fly Tipping Fine

Well, I have some sympathy.. If you don't know you're committing a crime it makes it slightly less of an offence in my book. However it appears you were bang to rights.. I recently experienced the bin men overlooking us - why do they do it when we have tons of stuff - coincidence? Very annoying beca...
