Re: Type of shoes for nursery school?

At that age my children only had one pair of shoes that they wore to nursery and everywhere else. I think at that age it is important to get a good pair of well fitting shoes. As you said they grow so fast it is not really worth buying lots of pairs. If I remember rightly they often took there shoes...

Re: Any advice about plantar fasciitis please?

I am in a similar situation...i can't really offer any advice but would be interested to hear from anyone who has recovered. Mine started in early December and got so bad I was not able to put any pressure on my right heel so ended up limping. I have a gp in the family so spoke to her and she explai...

Re: PANIC - Birthday party games for 3yr old???

Hi, We hosted my children's parties at home until they were school aged. What we did was remove any small or very special toys, if you are at home they will go through everything and everywhere unless you close the stair gate (we did). I had areas with toys out but then planned games like musical st...

Re: Talking to kids about periods, puberty and sex!

I agree with lemondrizzles and supergirl. A workshop for parents on how to talk to their children about these things would be good. I would certainly want to be the one that talks to my children, I think by 'outsourcing' (as you put it) it could give children the message that parents either aren't q...

Re: Where to have Mirena coil removed?

I am on my second coil. First one removed last year.
I love it. No periods and i hadn't really notices any moodiness.
The last one was a bit fiddly to remove (strings too short) but only uncomfortable like having a smear. I would highly recommend it.

Re: underarm hair in a 7 year old girl

I don't think you need to do anything unless your daughter is concerned but if you haven't it might be worth starting a discussion about the body changes that we go though as we grow up.....if puberty is starting she is likely to start showing other signs soon. Although girls starting puberty earlie...

Re: Sharing toiletries!

I thought an 'au pair' was supposed to be seen as 'one of the family' or at least on a par. The money you give them is pocket money. So when we had au pairs I always bought shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste for them just like I bought food for them. I chose the brand and explained they could buy their...

Re: Registration at birth for prep schools

We didn't register our son until he was 2 years for Thomas's and another selective school (Newton Prep) and a non-selective school (Parkgate). I was told we were very late for Parkgate, they took our money and put us on the waiting, waiting list...... However over time, I got a call from Parkgate to...

Re: Antenatal courses - Lulubaby, Bump & Baby or NCT?

I did an NCT course for my first child and found it helpful and informative. I did not feel it was particularly preachy. We covered all the drugs and interventions including c-sections (which I had in the end) and a bit about breast-feeding, when a member of our group stated that she wasnt going to ...

Re: parking for builders

I believe the builders can apply for trade permits. They may need a letter from you about the work and the duration of the work but I dont think this affects your allowance.
Look on the Lambethwebsite under bussiness permits or contact the council parking department.

Re: Getting to C&W when I go into labour

I had mine at the C&W, a few years ago and we decided not to drive....i was worried about parking just in case there was no space in the car park. So my husband contacted a few taxi companies a few weeks before my due date and asked if they would take a women in labour. He kept the contact for a...
