Re: Paying for nanny parking?

Hi - are you sure you can obtain a permit for her? We tried this for our nanny and the application was declined by the council on the grounds that it wasn't a necessary business expense. We now use daily permits.

Re: New nursery on Wandsworth Common given go ahead

Thanks - is this the building which Skylark occupy? Does this mean the cafe will be closing?

Re: Buggy board question

Hi, we have the Lascal version which, from memory, was slightly cheaper. It's been on the go for 3 years now and has plenty of life left in it. Whilst they are expensive, they are fairly hard wearing.

Re: Summer babies- delaying admission to primary school

Interestingly in Scotland, the intake year group runs from March- Feb, rather than Sept-Aug. This means that lots of starters are already five when they begin school, with the youngest being 4.5. Maybe something to think about if the system is to be changed.

Re: Belleville Waiting list Reception 2015 - will I get in?!

Hi, the Wandsworth council school application booklet shows the first offer distance for 2015 reception places ( as at April 2015) being 474m. This extended to 554m when the booklet was published (august 2015). I think there was a previous post providing the link to this, but if not just google, Wan...

Re: Northcote House Nursery

I'd echo the initial responder. We've used the nursery for over 4 years with two children and have always been really happy with the care provided. They have changed the nursery a fair bit over those years - all for the better. (New building, changing ages on rooms, responding to inspections) Admiss...

Re: Belleville Reception - swap Webbs to Meteor?!!

Hi - not sure if it helps, but there is a breakfast club at Meteor so you could drop him there for a short while prior to school. There are a few families who do this walk at the moment. Perhaps there will be some similar families in the reception year who you could share drop off with. Might be wor...

Re: Belleville 2015 Reception place not needed as going Priv

We were in your place last year. We started 36th (ish) on the initial waiting list. We got a call on the 2nd day of term to offer us a place - a number of children just didn't turn up on day one. We didn't miss much and settled in no problem - hang on in there and keep your phone on. They go back to...

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

You need more caffeine - get yourself down to Starbucks. :-)

I also noticed Printax was closing down - seems to be lots of change at the moment.

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

Isn't the flight centre in the old fat face property? Does anyone know if anything is going to open in the Jamie Oliver shop? It seems to have been vacant for a while.

Re: Gymnastics for a 5 year old - advice please!

The 'little gym' in smugglers way is also good and do trial classes. I think they also have summer camps on.

Re: Bday Party at Clapham Leisure Centre?

Yes - we've been to a few 5th parties there over the last year and they've all been lots of fun. The gym hall is huge and the parties usually have half the space, if not more. They've all had the bouncy castle and soft play toys out (which all look brand new) the kids have certainly been exhausted b...

Re: discrimination at work

Is this discrimination? If you were working towards the promotion, then perhaps your colleague was too? If the vacancy came up when you were on leave would it not be sensible for your firm to fill it - perhaps they should have notified you first and interviewed you too? Would you feel the same if th...

Re: C-Section or Natural?

Hi OP, congratulations. Again, I can only share my experience and hope it helps. I've had three c-sections, two emergency (we tried for natural the second time and ended with another emergency) and the third was elective. In terms of recovery I stayed in hospital for three nights, two nights and one...
