I was quite precious about video games too and only eased up when my son was in y6 but it was very restricted, 1 HR a week. Then lock down happened and that jumped to closer to 1 HR a day. Not ideal, but it's been the only way for him to socialize with friends so has had its place. Worth considering...

We've not gone the tutoring route as my son has done well throughout primary but I'm slightly panicking about how doing well in school is not the same as doing well on entrance exams. Be aware that every council has different rules. Some have unlimited time, some an extra hour (you have to displaya little paper  clock next to the blue badge) some allow you to park in residents bays, some don't.  You really need to plan your travels and check the council website beforehand.

You can't actaully legally get an au pair from the US because of immigration and working visa treaties. That's sort of the point.
