Re: Quooker - are alternative options as good?

We've had our Quooker tap for over 10 years and haven't had any problems with it, even with heavy daily usage.

You will need to get it serviced now and again, especially since the hard water of London means a lot of limescale builds up inside the tank and tap.

Re: how to become a teaching assistant? advice please!

You don't have to have any formal qualifications to become a teaching assistant, although it does help to have had some experience with children, which you seem to already, having been a nanny. There is a KS1 position available here https://www.newtonprepschool.co.uk/830/employment Days are long but...

Re: Should I pay for babysitter's lunch?

Thanks, everyone. Like the first poster said, I think I knew the answer already. I normally make meals for both of them and this is the first time they will go out so I just thought I'd double check. :)

Should I pay for babysitter's lunch?

Bit of a silly question here but just wanted some opinions. We have a babysitter coming to look after our son for a whole day and part of the evening (roughly 12 hours). I told my son they can go to the local cafe for lunch as a treat. I will obviously give her some cash for his lunch but should I c...

Re: Urang Buliders Fulham

I would NOT recommend them. We hired them to do a house refurb 4 years ago. The project manager left halfway through to work at another company, leaving me to instruct the builders on all matters. The builders had no attention to detail. Two years after the project was finished we had to get someone...

Re: Help my 7 year old can't get to sleep at night

We went the cranio osteo route when my son was three. He started waking up several times during the night and had trouble falling back asleep. I can't explain what they actually did or how it works. It seemed like they just prodded him! We visited the consultant three times over two months and then ...

Bday Party at Clapham Leisure Centre?

I made a silly mistake and booked my son's 5th birthday at the Clapham Leisure Centre when I meant to book the Latchmere Centre! Don't know what happened, my brain just wasn't working that day. It was only when I started writing the party invitations this morning that I realised my mistake. Anyway, ...

Re: Importance of son's nursery report for reception entry?

It went well, at least to me it did! Who knows how they actually select from those assessments. He was with a teacher for about 20mins, doing puzzles, drawing and general chit chat. Then he went off to another room to play with other children.

It was all very relaxed. Nothing to be nervous about.

Re: Importance of son's nursery report for reception entry?

Thank you everyone for replying to my post. We have a week to go before his assessment at NP but I'm trying not to get nervous about it. It's a lovely school but there's no way for me to figure out how they select the intake so I'll just cross my fingers and hope that he'll make the cut! Good luck t...

Re: Importance of son's nursery report for reception entry?

Thank you for your response, Squinkie, that's really reassuring. As you suggest, I'm going to ask the nursery to look over the report and correct the errors before sending it to other schools.

Importance of son's nursery report for reception entry?

My son is due to have his assessment for reception entry at Newton Prep this month. NP requested a report from his current nursery, and the deputy manager just showed me what she has sent to them. Frankly I was appalled by the number of typos and spelling mistakes in the report! I wish she had let s...

Re: 3-yr-old sudden separation anxiety?

Thanks, Mrs Contractor Mum. You've got me thinking about cranial osteopathy now. Did you visit a local practitioner?

I'm hoping he'll be back to his old self after the Christmas holidays. Maybe he'll look forward to going back to nursery after a full two weeks of mummy/daddy time!

3-yr-old sudden separation anxiety?

In the last month of so, my little boy has suddenly become really tearful at nursery drop off. He used to love going, and was so happy he wouldn't even stop to wave goodbye. This changed suddenly and he just clings on to me, saying he wants to go home. I can't think of anything that has triggered th...
