Re: State schools in Battersea and Clapham

Ravenstone is more rounded, less rigid and more in tune with the variety of needs, generally more progressive.   Belleville more rigid and more inclined to see the "negative side" in children, rather than the fact they are still children, also very focused on maths and English, more tradit...

Re: Switching from indy to state for Oxbridge

that's not how it even works, you need to be in a school in a terrible postcode, not just any state, and also move before GCSEs are taken otherwise, the GCSEs sitting will show where you have taken them and with which boards ... all very telling

Re: Advice needed on SEN support Secondary school please

Has your daughter got an EHCP in place already, if you don't mind me asking ? and are you looking at state or private ?  I think private can be tricky and not welcoming, especially for girls, as less girls have historically been diagnosed the schools have not had that the learning curve to learn to ...

Re: The Orthodontic Practice Battersea - your experience and opinions please

our experience there, has been very disappointing. We were referred there by our nhs dentist but on our arrival were told by Sam the NHS route would take too long and sent us to his friend on Harley Street, at a very prohibitive cost. He didn't give us any alternative just literally told us to rush ...

Re: Do parents locally pay uni fees or do students take loans?

Lots of variable ...
and it depends if the children will go into a high earning career post uni or not as that will influence how much they will repay and the costs altogether
It also clearly depends on how much faith you have in the government not to change the rules (again) once they need money in.

It's moving away from the other subjects to the point this year the school repor...

Re: Belleville or Honeywell

Belleville has wonderful staff and great families, but it is really big and this influence the way it is run which doesn't leave much room for differentiation and individualisation, but is reasonably efficient big machine. Despite what it is advertised the children do not get as much of the special...

Re: Just how hard is it to get into a private secondary school in SW London?

yes Townie :) my child is currently in year 7 at Emanuel, and had other options from schools slightly above in the 2019 league tables, such as Ipstock, and was also on WL in more academic schools, who told us they were not anticipating to call on their WL, and a year on we have never heard back. Bul...
