Totally honest and reliable. Have been using them for more than 20 years. They will never do anything you don't need done and when your cars getting old will do what's necessary to keep it safe and on the road.

Re: Au pair agency missed mental health issues with our au p

Will the agency not replace the girl free of charge. When we had au-pairs that happened on the one occasion we when we got a girl who was unsuitable and it was identified it in the first four weeks. We did, however, received two references for all the girls we had and I always telephoned at least on...

Re: Au Pair Food Allowance - How much?

We never gave ours a food allowance. Our au-pair could help herself to what was in the kitchen - everything we had was shared. She was expected to eat with the children in the evenings before we got home - and the children ate what we ate. If our au-pairs wanted to cook something special from their ...

Re: Polish play groups in the area

Marta, I sort of feel that if I'd asked if anyone knew of any nice, middle class playgroups where my children could absord "Oxford" English, I'd have been lambasted for being racist and elitist. It might have been what I felt comfortable with but it would be totally inappropriate to say it...

Re: GP recommendation SW18

Genuinely, I suspect they are all much of a muchness and it depends which particular sort of muchness suits you best as a family. I hear people moan about them all and I think all you can do is pop into them all for a practice leaflet and see which one you like the feel of best. The phoning at 8am i...

Re: Popular Southfields school to get extra classrooms

Can Councillor Tracey provide some information about what Wandsworth is doing to improve standards in secondary schools please. When our daughter was doing secondary transfer in 2010 we could not find one school in Wandsworth that we were were prepared to put on the application form. It was really v...

Re: Will Wandsworth have enough secondary school places?

The secondary school question is a very interesting one indeed. We had to find one for our daughter in 2010. Wandsworth have done a very good job with raising standards in primary schools but they have not equalled this in secondary schools. Things may have changed but back in 2010 (with the excepti...

Re: Potty training a girl - we are stuck...

I just wrote a really long post but to cut a long story short. It really doesn't matter. She's awfully young at 2 years, 4 months and doing awfully well. Just praise her and let her find her own pace and lead on this. If she still wants her nappy at 3.4 then it might be a problem but when she is 3.4...

Re: Help! Ideas on where to take a chicken pox daughter.

It's hard isn't it. You can go wherever you like and if you had older children you would have to take your daughter with you to collect them from school. When I was in that situation though I put the plastic rain cover over the buggy to try to limit the infection a bit. It would be lovely for your d...

Re: terraced house weekly cleaning - how long should it take

Yes, I use a company called C G Scrubbers. They are based in SW London and the owner is called Liz I think from memory. If you google them you'll come across them. A really thorough clean including carpets is about £500-£600 but well worth it and they pull out all furniture and literally clean every...

Re: terraced house weekly cleaning - how long should it take

We have a five bed terrace again with the top floor rarely used. Two adults and two teenagers. Our cleaner cleans for three hour each week and that includes, sweeping all the way through, mopping wooden floors in hall, kitchen, utility and bathrooms, hoovering throughout, wiping down bannister rails...

Re: Southfields... nice place to live?

Southfields is fabulous. We have lived here for nearly 25 years. With regard to schools I am so surprised nobody has mentioned the triangle which comprises the roads off Wimbledon Park Road: Gatwick, Hambledon, Wincanton and Pulborough. They are much leafier than the grid, there is a wonderful commu...
