Re: Stasi service at local restaurant

Oh Holla, never has anyone so spectacularly - and, I suspect, deliberately - missed the point of a thread (I say thread rather than post, because this thread long ago stopped being about your original grievance). With one or two possible exceptions, other posters' responses to you have nothing to do...

Re: Help wanted with mouse epidemic!

Try Superproof - they're not cheap but will come and fill every last tiny weeny hole in your house (they were at ours for about 8 hours!) so that mice can no longer come in. In other words, it aims to be a permanent solution rather than getting rid of one lot then another group moving in a few weeks...

Re: Stasi service at local restaurant

This is the most bonkers thread I've ever read on NVN. My conclusions are 1) Rob McFarlane has the patience of a saint and though I haven't been to his restaurant, I'm now keen to visit and 2) the OP seems deeply unpleasant. I suspect neither of these conclusions are ones she was hoping people would...

Re: Rutherford House or Fircroft or Ravenstone

I would echo Headshrinker 's comments - she (he?) neatly sums up why I'm very happy for my son to be starting at Ravenstone in 2017 (I say that with confidence as his sister is currently in Y2, unless the Wandsworth sibling policy changes wildly between now and next year!) The school has taken a rea...

Re: Balham schools

Mungomuffit I appreciate the concerns you had but I think you took your child out of Ravenstone a year or two ago, didn't you, so I think it's worth adding that some of the things you mention (particularly feedback to parents and consistency of teaching) have been addressed with some gusto since th...

Re: St George's Carmen Suite

I used it in 2008, so a while ago(!) but echo other posters' positive comments. I too ended up in the delivery suite so didn't complete my labour/delivery in Carmen, but wish I had - it was a lovely big, quiet, calm space (at one point when my contractions were still bearable I remember just sitting...

Re: Beginner swimming lessons for 6-year-old

Ah, that's good to know. I assumed they wouldn't be doing lessons over the school summer holidays. Could I possibly ask how much they are, and is it a long course?

Beginner swimming lessons for 6-year-old

Could anyone recommend classes based in the Balham/Tooting area (or even Clapham/Streatham at a push)? Probably not 1:1 as that seems sooooo expensive, but say small classes? I'm conscious that it's time for my daughter to learn, but I'm finding surprisingly few options...

Spray tan recommendations please (don't want to be Tangoed!)

Dear NVNers, please do you have any local recommendations? I've decided that I don't want another summer of looking pale and pasty, and am happy to invest in a decent spray tan (don't trust myself with a bottle), but am a bit scared of being turned orange :? I'm pretty fair, though not quite the blu...

Re: Did you get your first choice primary?

actuallyadad , by your own admission you never had any intention of sending your child to a state primary (god forbid!) and only applied 'as an interesting exercise' to see what you got. What fun! What japes! Had you got one of your choices, you'd have rejected it anyway, but in the meantime subjec...
