Re: Trinity Fields Fireworks

The clear, precise and comprehensive reply by HightreesHouse just goes to show that people should not jump to chippy conclusions (and spread unnecessary and inaccurate rumours) on subjects they know nothing about.

Re: Daughter's 16th Birthday venue help!

I had a very similar experience to LastMumStanding a while ago with my then (just) 15yo son's party. We had contacted all the parents to check that they were happy for us to offer a very small amount of alcohol and complied with the wishes of those parents who did not want their child to have any......

Any recommendations for a wooden floor re-furbisher?

Can anyone recommend someone who can refurbish our wooden floor please? It's currently varnished (and very worn and dirty-looking, despite frequent cleans!) but we want to get it taken back to the bare wood and re-done with hard wax oil instead. Thanks for any recommendations

Re: Looking for a young male babysitter!

My boys were exactly the same! I found that local/neighbour A level students and pre-university 'gappies' were fab, and all keen to earn money usually whilst studying. If you know any of your neighbours with sons in the right age gap this could be a really good option. I haven't heard of any around ...

Re: Plantation shutters - it's a jungle out there!

Hi Hemma
I have had a couple of quotes but everything ground to a halt when I went on holiday for a couple of weeks. Just back so will progress and let you know the outcome.

Re: break in the UK

I agree completely with all those suggestions - Cornwall and North Norfolk are beautiful, and we loved taking ours when toddlers to the South Hams area of Devon which is slightly closer than Cornwall. Also agree wholeheartedly with GingerCat2's description of the Isle of Wight - my family went regul...

Re: Cow parsley identification

The leaves in your photo look much more like cow parsley than the ground elder leaves in Flora's very helpful pic. But it's hard to tell without looking at them in the flesh, and it's a bit late into summer for cow parsley which flowers in May-ish - I would get out there with a sturdy fork and dig u...

Thanks so much for your suggestions, Julesybear1 and Pie81 - apologies for not having thanked you before! Am getting a few quotes in and will contact both your suggested companies too.

Re: Chistening gift which isn't junk...

Blimey, some of those gifts given to children sound lovely and definitely to be treasured! My sons, now they are teenagers, are starting to really appreciate - and use - some of the presents they were given for their christenings, especially cufflinks. My eldest was confirmed recently (another round...

Plantation shutters - it's a jungle out there!

Hi, does anyone have any views on/recommendations of companies to make and possibly also fit plantation shutters? Our most local one, the New England Shutter Co, has great products but seems pretty pricey. There are lots of online suppliers who are cheaper but I have no idea about their quality. Any...

Anyone know a really reliable 'troubleshooting' plumber?

I need to find a plumber who can look intelligently at a couple of problems we are having with our heating system malfunctioning - but the problem is not with the new boiler, rather with the other bits around it (drainage etc) which we did not change when we replaced the boiler. So s/he needs to be ...
