Re: Cash /vouchers or present for end of year gift for teacher?

As a teacher… vouchers, always vouchers! The only exception was when I got a necklace from Monica vinader with an inscription on (With love from KG2) which became my good luck charm for interviews!

Re: Second hand books

I find schools live book donations - children are often quite rough on books and topping up the library is expensive!

Re: Private primaries around Wandsworth Bridge

Wandsworth Prep are an amazing school. I used to work there until we moved away from the area and I can, hand on heart, say that it’s the best school I’ve ever worked for. The staff are a genuine team, they care so much for the children their outcomes, the curriculum is exciting and diverse, you get...

Re: Montessori type bed for 4y old boy- advice

Hi,
I’m not sure what you mean by Montessori bed, (a bed that teaches independence?) but the first thing to spring to mind was the Leander cot bed. You wouldn’t need the cot bit, but it grows with the child and is very designy looking! My daughter is 4 and loves hers. Very easy to put together.

Re: Money help

Hi, I rarely comment, but I feel so strongly about this! My personal opinion is that yes, you should be paid. My personal experience has been similar to yours this last year; my partner and I are not married, have two children and I left my job whilst we moved out of London - because of COVID I ende...

Re: "Wasteland" at the end of Danvers avenue (opposite the St. John's Hill exit from Clapham Junction)?

We live on the new Peabody estate. That wasteland area is the site for phase three of building works - I believe they had to go back to the drawing board and make the new build cheaper as demand isn’t as high/our flats didn’t sell as quickly as they’d expected(?). We got a letter saying they were st...

Re: Parkgate to Eaton House

1. Sport teams. My friends son was excited about joining a bigger more competitive school with better teams. Problem was he then didn’t get into any as the competition was too fierce. This was a big deal. 2. They felt as a family that the other boys didn’t even realise a new lad had started and so ...

Re: Have you taken Shared Parental Leave?

Happy to chat - I took 6 weeks and my partner did 20 weeks + 4 weeks paternity.
I work however, so if you want to chat, it’ll have to be from 7 - 7.55am, on my way to work!

Re: Speech therapy in Battersea/Clapham

Casey Jackson from Ruth Jacobs Children's Therapy is amazing! She’s so sweet and kind and has worked with many children from our nursery, right up to prep-school age. All the children from my class who needed S&L loved her.

Re: Good NHS GPs in the area?

I’d definitely recommend Begg’s practice on St Johns Hill - I’ve been there since we moved to London, through a pregnancy and birth, and they were amazing! I liked that we got to choose our hospital ourselves, rather than being assigned one. I chose C&W ‘cause my SIL works there, and they were a...

My mum was walking the dog between St Mark's church (Battersea Rise) and The Plough (St Johns Hill) , and has lost her black AltaHR FitBit. Please let me know if you find it!
