Re: Streatham/ Furzedown area

I have lived in Streatham for nearly ten years and love it too. I live South, near Tooting Common (so nice to be near so much green space) and there are lots of great restaurants and cafes too. I've just posted some info about a free local community festival I am involved in organising www.littlebig...

Re: Preventing the Clothes Moth having the upper hand

This is helpful, thanks for posting.

Putting clothes in the freezer for two weeks can also kill the larvae. And as I understand it, through washing, you can only kill them if the temp is over 50 degrees (so not ideal for woolens...unless you are trying to felt them!)

Happy moth hunting.

Re: Garage Rental Required

Really envious, would love one of those! There are two websites that might be handy with your search. First, www.parkatmyhouse.com, a site that connects people who need to park with people who have available space. Also, www.sharemystorage.com - similar to the above but for storage, including garage...

Re: Does anyone know of a good local milliner?

I would highly recommend Stacey Robertson, founder of Dee Dee Bridal www.deedeebridal.com. We were recently finalists in a competition for women entrepreneurs so I know her on a professional basis and her work is beautiful. She offers ready to wear and bespoke (she'll work with your budget), and tho...

Music for Children is a wonderful local charity who are currently collecting toys for disadvantaged children. http://www.music4children.org/ The charity runs the White Lion pub in Streatham and I think they are colelcting there but worth giving them a ring to check arrangements. Re: Anyone found the perfect slippers?

These slippers by PO-ZU have been highly recommended to me by a friend who write this article: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/12/po_zu_shoes.php. Re: weekend away recommendations?

Hi Katharine, If you are still looking, I would recommend browsing www.specialplacestostay.co.uk - all the hotels I've stayed in from their site have been fantastic - they have to be reviewed and acessed to be on the site. They're all more independent, special places (as the name suggests) and you c...

Re: Twin Buggies and Natural Deodorants

Re deodorant - Pit Rok do a spray and I've heard that adidas do one without aluminium and parabens (it's called 24 hour but I would check when you buy that it is free of them as I haven't used it). The vast majority of 'natural' deodorants or those without aluminium are not anti-perspirants, therefo...

Re: Bully at swimming.

Regardless of whether your daughter felt is was aggressive, this behaviour was intended to threaten and intimidate - why else would he have done it (he was trying to get his point across by doing something where he was physically controlling a young child). At best is was highly inappropriate, irres...

Re: Do you use Clarins skincare products?

Liz Earle is fab. I would also recommend Dr Hauschka, Ren, Nude and Lavere. Oh and Neil's Yard too. The best beauty brand I've ever used is Arcona - they are very natural, and use enzymes, anti-oxidants etc to achieve results rather than putting nasties in their products. They are more expensive tha...
