Re: christmas stocking question

Hey Misstemple, I love it!! You are definitely not cheesy (or maybe we are both super cheesy). We wrapped our stocking stuffers....but I guess it's a preference thing. My mum was obsessed with beautiful wrapping paper so maybe that's why! :) But I vote for wrapped stocking stuffers as it adds to the...

Re: christmas stocking question

Stockings all the way!! Our family loves stockings. Everyone gets one, no matter how old they are....even the dog gets one. Tell your hubby he's definitely the Scrooge :)

Our stockings were filled with little gifts, fruits and chocolates. Love them!

Nanny needed in Teddington

We are moving to Teddington at the end of August and we need a new nanny for our lovely 9 month old baby girl! We would need someone from 7:30AM to 6:30PM every weekday except Thursdays when I work from home. Please message me if you are interested!

Re: Husband getting tattoo

It sounds like a bit of a mid-life crisis move. I say just let him do it since there are worse mid-life crisis things he could do. I would be more focussed on the fact that he said that his happiness is paramount. As we all know, marriage is a compromise and, within reason, I would not do something ...

Re: reformer pilates nr balham

Hi! I asked a similar question a while ago and got this answer from Sunnyside: "I really like Dario at http://www.novopilates.co.uk It's Clapham Junction rather than Clapham Common, but I think he's the best Pilates instructor in the area. He really cares about technique. He made me do hip brid...

Re: kitchen nightmare

That sounds horrible! Any way you can get them to give you the splashbacks and worktops you paid for and then have someone else install them? I wish you the best of luck. And make sure to post if someone else on here is considering using whoever it is! It sounds like these guys are really difficult....

Re: kitchen nightmare

If I were you, I would ask your current company for a budget (in writing) for everything to finish the project, as well as a timeline for completion. Then I would get other companies in, to price and time the project (also in writing). You can then compare the results and make your decision at that ...

Re: built in wardrobes

I can recommend Clapham Construction. We dealt with the main guy named Jake. He constructed beautiful closets and cabinetry for our bedroom and front room as part of a general refurbishment they did for us. The craftsmanship was quality and the price was good too. Their details are http://claphamcon...

Re: It's currently legal to force women to wear high heals to work.

I worked at a Magic Circle law firm. They did have stylists and image consultants come in to talk to the trainees but their suggestions were only suggestions, not requirements. Their advice was quite helpful as many trainees were coming out of university and needed pointers on how to dress professio...

Re: Is Nappy Valley actually child friendly?

I don't think the term "Nappy Valley" was applied to this neighbourhood because it is/was an exceptionally child friendly place. I just think people started calling it Nappy Valley because a lot of young families were moving in. It is about quantity not quality, I think.

Re: Teenage scammers "Fundraising" door to door for football clubs

I had a teenage boy matching the OP's general description knock on my door last week. I live in Clapham South/Abbeville Rd area. I didn't give him any money since his form seemed ragged and he didn't have a badge or anything...

Re: Portrait Artist recommendation?

I highly recommend Becka Belcher (www.beckabelcher.com). She does wonderful contemporary portraits and is a local mum as well!

She is an extremely accomplished artist and does gorgeous non-portrait work too. See examples of her non-portrait works here: www.rebeccaivatts.com.

Re: Neilson vs Mark Warner v Club Med

I can also throw my support behind Club Med. As a kid, I went to the one in Guadeloupe (French Antilles in the Caribbean) for several years and I loved it. So did my parents, given that there was a Kids Club and Mini Club for babies which meant that kids were entertained all day. The kids could take...

Re: Any childcare recommendations for Canary Wharf or Blackheath?

Little Unicorns is located right in central Canary Wharf and therefore super convenient for working mums. The drawback is that it is in the shopping mall and therefore not very close to pleasant outdoor green space. However, I guess it is good choice for people who need an urgent option for good chi...

Re: Garage conversion??

I didn't use a separate architect firm with Clapham Construction because the main guy Jake was knowledgeable and had very good ideas. Sometimes architect firms can complicate things but I guess it really depends on the conversion company you use.
