Re: Gails to SW12

It was a pretty clapped-out newsagent. It's not the most promising spot, next to the Travelodge, but maybe the arrival of Gail's will raise the tone. The patisserie the other side of the road, Apple Blue, has been a good addition, as has the sushi place on the same side a little further down.

Re: Rail noise in Balham

It's fair to say that since I posted about this approximately a year ago the situation has improved. Have I got used to the noise, or has it actually abated? My impression is that the answer is "Both."

Re: Rail noise in Balham

I definitely think it has something to do with the new buildings at the school creating a sort of echo chamber for rail noise. I wonder what it must be like for the students and teachers within the school buildings. My sense is that the issue started when the cladding was finished. I wonder if there...

That's what I've been suspecting. Interesting to hear some corroboration for the theory. Thanks!

Rail noise in Balham

I live near Chestnut Grove school, and the amount of noise form the railway line that runs parallel to Ravenslea Road has increased recently. I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on why this is.
