Do I have to allow scaffolding on my land?

One of the flats above us (who are leaseholders like us) have been given permission by our freeholder to extend into their loft. To do this, they need to put scaffolding on our property. This would mean months and months of misery for us. Do we have to allow this? It's not essential maintenance wor...

".Not everyone likes to live in a Victorian house not fit for modern living unless you spend a fortune on it. I would have thought it was obvs from my Specsavers comment that I was referring to the proposed visual designs, not old vs new housing. They might well be toasty warm inside but they ...

Re: Proposal for five story flats at Jaggard Way (Wandsworth Common)

If we worried about spoiling people's views towards Wandsworth Common (presumably over an industrial estate and a railway line ?!) then nothing would ever get built. Also in case you hadn't noticed the railway line is at ground level and the maximum height of the current industrial estate (LIGHT in...

Re: Proposal for five story flats at Jaggard Way (Wandsworth Common)

"This area is like living in the country " ...but this is not the countryside ! You live in bustling city with an housing issues. There is no point in building homes similar in size to Victorian houses because they can accommodate two families at push. The apartment building design is nic...

If we worried about spoiling people's views towards Wandsworth Common (presumably over an industrial estate and a railway line ?!) then nothing would ever get built. I'm pretty sure based on all your comments that you are something to do with the developers or stand to gain in some way from the dev...

If you are renting now, will you be able to afford the sale prices of these new properties? I'm sure they won't be cheap!

Re: Proposal for five story flats at Jaggard Way (Wandsworth Common)

Once upon the nineteen eighties, WBC was at the forefront of creating little enterprise zones across the borough now it turns a greedy eye on Jaggard Way. I have not even got to sharing my thoughts on the proposed (remember; proposed) development. However, I will leave it there for now and return t...

Re: Proposal for five story flats at Jaggard Way (Wandsworth Common)

Caring about where we live also means opening the community up to new people moving in. Not locking it down and preventing all development. We need to move forward, not let the Victorians decide how many residences the area has. How does caring where we live mean we have to open it up to new people...

Re: Proposal for five story flats at Jaggard Way (Wandsworth Common)

it's just ridiculous to complain that a new development of smart apartments I definitely don't agree that what they are proposing is smart. I think it is quite boring looking and not in keeping with other buildings nearby. Plus what is there now is unobtrusive, only one story high, not six stories ...
