Re: Brandlehow Primary School

Hi Ccgayton,

Do you feel that it is academic enough? How are you finding the new head?

Thanks

Re: Does being privately educated mean discrimination at job interviews?

Reading

In a forum where most readers are women, who traditionally have had and still somewhat have a tougher ride is kind of surreal…

Family clubs (local)

Hi!

Can you share recommendations for great family clubs in the area (we live near the river in the Fulham/Putney area so anything in South west) where a toddler can play/ socialise and parents can meet other families at weekend please?

Thank you!

Re: Brandlehow School

Hi, bumping to see if there is any knowledge on Brandlehow? This is the only non religious primary with strong reputation in the area but according to some parents it’s just nurturing not strong enough academically…would you agree? Would you say that it provides a good enough platform to access repu...

Hotham Primary advice please

Hi, we still have a couple of years to move to a better catchment area for state school if needed. At the moment, the only good state school we could get into is Hotham. Could anyone give me some insight? Any information or experience would be invaluable. I am tying to figure out how much of a diffe...

Re: Thermomix- are they worth the investmet?

110% worth it!!!
Had an old one (20+ years old) and, at the end of its life, got the new generation one. It’s a fantastic product, but cannot say whether less expensive competitors (if any?!) are equally good

Re: Husband wants to cut back on our lifestyle and won't let me ask my parents for help

Hi! If I were in your shoes, I’d sit down with him to fully understand his perspective before proposing any alternative solution. It’s hard to diagnose whether your financial situation is problematic/ resilient enough, or if it’s true that you have to depend on external sources (credit or family) to...

Re: Brother in law refusing to help my son with work experience

If I were your son, I’d take this as a wake up call. Access to a senior executive in a competitive industry is a rare privilege, yet he doesn’t seem be able to understand how to drive value out of such a close family relationship...whether it’s mentoring or solid career advice or coaching to close t...

Putney nursery - noddy’s or Gwendolen house?

Hi there!

I’d value your first hand experience on Noddy’s (Gwendolen ave) and Gwendolen house starting at 9 months full time.

Thank you!

Re: Chelsea and Westminster Maternity

Hi,

Lola’s post is quite scary...

What are the key questions one should ask to really understand what they are signing up to?

Is there a way to avoid being left alone at night if induced?

Thank you!

Re: husband not willing to pay for daughter's uni fees despite paying for our son

Sounds like an interesting dilemma! Personally, I find the assumption that she will not access a lucrative career very dangerous. Help your daughter find some inspiring mentors who will show her how she can make some serious money once graduated in liberal arts... The idea of alternative investments...

Putney childcare

Hi! Curious to understand what others in the area have decided to do regarding childcare when going back to full time work...nursery or childminder? Or did you take a mixed approach? Why? Also interested in hearing what recommendations you may have for both in Putney. Thank you so much and have a gr...

Re: Southfields mum - Opinions on The Roche School please!

Hi all,
Looking at the term dates for nursery (Keswick road), made me wonder how do working parents manage around the breaks between terms or half day “off”.
Thank you!

life after children - financial hacks

Hi all, We all know that life after children can become more expensive. I’d love to learn what financial hacks you successfully used /saw others use to continue to build your wealth/plan for future expenses that are applicable to a young family. I.e. buying an investment property and give one room t...

Re: Getting my head around education in London

Thank you, Goldhawk and Greyskies, your observations are so valuable! In fact, I am realising only now that private schools could be just as valuable networking tools for ambitious parents as preparing/signalling the ability of the child...as with many things, the tricky bit will be to understand wh...
