Re: Massive Spiders!

There are apparently more coming indoors this year after our wet summer.

They are harmless but I agree, frightful!

Here's an article I read about them a couple of months ago when I first saw a big spider in the house.

Re: Magician for a 7 year old's party

I second Magic Mikey.

We've been to 4 or 5 of his parties over the last few years and he has had the children (and adults!) enthralled every time.

Re: FOUND SOLID GOLD RING

I believe this is some kind of scam. Same thing happened to me in two different streets in Putney recently - about two weeks between occasions. A stranger 'finds' a gold ring on the ground, offers it to you and asks for money for a coffee or sandwich. I'm not sure how the scam is supposed to work th...

Re: Pop-up Photo Booths

I've booked these guys for an upcoming party - the party hasn't been yet so can't offer a full review.

They're the only ones I found that do a 'cool' booth that isn't a booth.

Can you recommend a caterer for small house party? (Adults)

We're hosting a party between Christmas and New Year and hoping to find a local caterer that can prepare - and possibly serve - a selection of party food to our guests. It's a smallish gathering of around 30 adults. Our house is small so looking for yummy 'finger food' that guests can eat standing o...

Re: Where to get vehicle seats steam cleaned?

We had ours done recently at Aurora on Putney Bridge Road (Wandsworth End - opposite Wandsworth Park).

They are a light grey colour and had gotten pretty grubby. After steam cleaning they came up like new.

Re: The Roche School sorrounding area

Old York Rd borders The Tonsleys and has a butcher, newsagent, cafes, Sainsburys local, hairdressers, dentists, beauty therapists and restaurants. It's a lovely cobbled street with a villagey feel. For bigger supermarkets and pharmacy the ever-improving Southside shopping centre is very close and ha...

Re: The Roche School sorrounding area

I second (third? fourth?) The Tonsleys. Lots of Roche families live here and walk/bike to school. It's not the most scenic journey but it is a lovely little group of streets tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Wandsworth. Plus, for the 20 weeks of the year that the children are not at school i...

Re: Another burglary!

We had a similar experience to Goldhawk - I heard them downstairs and jumped out of bed, stomped really loudly, turned all the lights on and grabbed the phone to call the police at the same time. Burglers took off without taking anything luckily. Hubby was away at the time so didn't want to call out...

Re: Car insurance dilemma

We often have family visiting from abroad (non UK residents with non UK drivers licences) and have lent them our car several times. All we do is call our insurance company and add a temporary additional driver for x number of days and it's no problem. It costs about £40 or £50 from memory but still ...

Re: Relationship counsellors

I can highly recommend Claire Djali. Claire got us through a major relationship crisis 18 months ago and 'saved' our marriage. She can do home visits which worked well for us as she came in the evenings when the children were asleep so we didn't need to get a babysitter. If we ever go off the rails ...

Re: Have you heard about The Roche School?

Our son is coming to the end of Year 1 at The Roche and has been there since nursery. We are absolutely delighted with the school and with our son's progress there. He adores his teacher and commented at the beginning of this year "Mum, I didn't think I could like my *new teacher* any more than...

Re: Can anyone recommend a Balham window-cleaner?

I can also recommend Matt.

He cleaned all of our windows inside and out for the first time last week. Very reasonably priced and did a great job.

He uses his own purified water so no streaks.

He is also very polite.
