Re: Commuting from Clapham Common to Streatham and Clapham High School

When I posted originally, we only had SCHS and LPS, both of which we liked; but since then, we’ve had other variables thrown into the matrix. I’ve clearly hijacked my own thread here sorry

Re: Commuting from Clapham Common to Streatham and Clapham High School

Haha yeah I think at this point the choice has been taken out of my hands. I like that SCHS appears more diverse than the other private schools in south London (I mean, I even found some snooty posts about that on this forum 😁) and that the fees are lower - but i think DD’s got her heart set on JAGS...

Re: Commuting from Clapham Common to Streatham and Clapham High School

Thanks for all the replies, folks. So it is multi-modal transport, really, if she takes after school clubs. We’re currently weighing up SCHS, JAGS, and Emanuel. While JAGS seems to be the most convenient transport wise (and is DD’s top choice), SCHS comes across as a kinder school to me. I’m a littl...

Commuting from Clapham Common to Streatham and Clapham High School

My DD was just offered a place at Streatham and Clapham High School for Y7 and I was just trying to get an idea from other parents with their daughters there as to how their children commute in. We’re by Clapham Common station, and can see there’s a school bus, but seeing as it’s running full this y...

Re: EXCELLENT CLEANING SERVICE- fully insured

We've been using Kasia and her crew for a few months now, and have been extremely happy with the results. We really like the thoroughness with which our regular cleaner Iza cleans the house, and have found that Kasia is always great at finding replacement cleaners at short notice in case of illness ...

Re: Lessar Avenue acid throwing situation

Given the suspect is at large and described as dangerous, I'm surprised I can't find a description of the attacker anywhere so the public can call it in. Has anybody seen this info?

Re: Remote job

The company I work for, Cisco, is very flexible around working hours and working from home. For example, I take time off most days to drop my child to school and pick her back up, and make up the hours at night or the weekend.

Does anybody know what this insect is?

My garden is covered with thousands of these slow moving, crawling insects with mottled backs and six legs. Does anybody know what this is? I can’t seem to upload pics here, so I’ve just put pics up here in the links below https://ibb.co/ZV8yB3d https://ibb.co/LrRGDKr P.S.: my friend’s broadcast thi...

Re: Portugal recommendations

We spent the last two summers in Portugal (drove there with a 6 year old as we didn't want to get on a plane coz of COVID), and cannot recommend it enough. However, I would not  recommend Albufeira, unless of course you like a resort-y vibe with fish and chips shops and English breakfasts everywhere...

Secondary schools in the Common area

I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, but I couldn’t find anything germane on secondary schools, so I thought I would ask anyway. Also, apologies if some of my questions sound a bit dumb; both my partner and I went to school abroad, and don’t really understand the English secondary schoo...

Re: where to get a covid vaccine after 4 weeks?

I may know folks that may or may not include myself who've had luck here without having to wait the full 12 weeks :)

Surge testing in Lambeth

On the day they decided to open everything up and let people spread COVID in pubs and restaurants, the government have just decided to tell us that there’s a significant cluster of the SA variant in Lambeth and Wandsworth, and are asking people to go get tested as they start surge testing in the are...

Re: Aircon installation

Thanks so much, that’s handy. I think gravity ought to work quite well for me as the air con’s for the loft and I have a flat roof on the first floor where I think I’d want to put the compressor.

Re: Worrying incidents in the months before Sarah Everard's disappearance. Are they connected?

I found it particularly disturbing that one of the posters on a different thread claimed they'd called the police on a black man "matching the description" in Streatham (which, given the vagueness of the description, could be any one of thousands of people in Lambeth).  I think it's possib...

Re: Any personal cleaner recommendations (Tooting)?

We live by the Common now after having moved over from SE London last year. For the last decade, I’ve used this agency called Domestic Shine and have never been less than happy with the cleaners they’ve sent us. Joanna, the lovely Polish lady who runs this, is a genuinely sweet person. Some of her c...
