Re: Mums? What about dads?

@muminsw12 that is a fair point and it does change the dynamic a lot. If for example this was initiated by Annabel who was thinking about rebranding the site and then went about asking everyone's opinions on it, it would be a very different matter.

Re: Mums? What about dads?

Seriously? Are we not all aware that this site was created and being ran by a woman and very successfully? Does this fact not send a stronger message about gender stereotypes than the retro logo? Am I the only feeling uncomfortable about a man telling a woman she is doing it wrong, she is not empowe...

Re: Mums? What about dads?

I don't see there is anything wrong if this page is for mums and then lots of dads also find it helpful.
I was hoping the tone was amicable. As a side note, NappyValleyNet seems to be one of the friendliest places on the internet.
Have a great weekend, too.

Re: Mums? What about dads?

I disagree. You continued to a site which you found helpful despite the pink and mums welcome. I feel it is your gender stereotypes that make you feel unwelcome in a pink page aimed primarily at mums. Anyway, let's agree to disagree. Regardless, I am pleased you retracted the sexist part of your arg...

Re: Mums? What about dads?

Sexism or racism can be experienced by women and people of colour respectively. Isolated incidents of discrimination based on gender or race towards a man or a white person are just that: isolated incidents. It doesn't mean you will continue to live your life at a disadvantage because of your gender...

Re: Mums? What about dads?

Crying out 'sexism' just because this platform is created with women in mind first is outrageous and undermines the very real issue of sexism. Sexism is constant, ingrained in the way society operates to the detriment of...women, not men. If you are white, straight and middle class, then society ope...

Re: Renting near Belleville to get access to the school

I also agree with Flogri. The system is wrong and abusable. What people do within their legal rights is up to them and not for us to judge. I have been following various topics with enraged parents that didn't get to the school of choice although they are 'more worthy' than others that did, be it be...

Re: English Martyrs or St Bartholomew's in Streatham?

Thank you so much for your replies. They are very helpful. Children's mass on Sundays sounds wonderful. My little one has an abundance of energy and keeping still is definitely not his forte! Thank you for the advice of checking which roads fall under EM and StB with the school. I will give them a c...

English Martyrs or St Bartholomew's in Streatham?

We are looking to moving to Streatham and next year our DS will start primary school. Any advice? I hear good things about the catholic school which serves the two parishes of the English Martyrs and St Bartholomew's. The house we are looking to buy seems to be between the two. Which one you reckon ...

Re: Help! Just called for Jury Service and need childcare

I also got out of jury service for caring for a young one. Apparently I am now on a list and my name should come up again in the future. I doubt they can force you to use chid lcare with such young children. Best of luck!

Re: What amazing new things do people do?

It is very reassuring to know that a lot of us are contemplating the same question. I certainly don't miss going to work but sometimes I feel part of my identity is lost in being a 'mum'. I don't even have a name anymore! Working friends without children often ask me what do I do all day. It's not w...
