Re: Private Primary - how to decide (Broomwood/Hornsby/Thomas's)

I am also a former parent of one of the schools you mention. Would you expect your child(ren) to stay until Y6 and to do the 11 plus/equivalent at that school? If so, you should look carefully at the class sizes in Y5 and Y6 as this is an important factor in exam preparation. A large class (20+) do...

Re: Are children from state schools and private schools treated the same in the 11+?

I have read on FB that at 7+ Highgate took into consideration that the child was from state primary and summer born. I have not heard anything about 11+.

Re: Nursery Fees

How did you find out about throwing underwear? My son does not tell much about what is going on in the nursery. He is 3 years 4 months old. Moving at this age is not an issue. Majority of children from my son's group moved to school nurseries in September. Even those who stayed will go to different ...

Re: Nursery Fees

Thanks redondo, you made me check my emails. My son is in another Bright Horizons, in Fulham. Luckily he is over 3. Under 3s fees in our nursery will be £2124 from 1 Jan. I think BH can charge what they want because of shortage of nursery places in the area. Our management always claim that they hav...

Re: Are independent schools better than state? Primary.

I would say depends on the child. If the child is confident and mature for his age he will be fine at the state school. My son is summer born and I think he is emotionally a bit behind children who are 6-9 months older than him. I was thinking to delay him by a year if he does not get a place in a p...

Parsons Green Prep

I know Parsons Green Prep is a bit of trek from Wandsworth but I saw the school open day advertised on Nappy Valley. Just wondering if anyone here have or recently had children going to Parson Green Prep. I have noticed frequent changes of Heads of the school. Do they have high turnover of teachers ...

Has anyone registered with Thomas's Fulham Reception 2023 been contacted to fill out a Child Information Form?

There was an email in March 2022 outlining the timeline for Thomas's Fulham Reception 2023 entry procedure. The first two lines were as below:  Early September 2022Main list parents emailed and asked to fill out a Child Information Form (CIF)  if they are still interested in a place at Thomas’s Fulh...

Re: Would you take school fees from a parent on the basis that they will be heavily involved in the whole process

I thought secondary schools choose based on 11+ or similar test results?
I would check school's bursary policy to see if your child and family could meet the criteria.

Looking for Swimming club/lessons for 3 year old in Fulham/Wandsworth/Clapham/Chelsea?

We are currently at London Baby Swim in Wandsworth. I am looking for similar structured small group lessons but in a pool with appropriate depth so 3 year old children can go without parents being with them in the water. Fulham/Wandsworth/Clapham/Chelsea are the most convenient. It would be nice if ...

Preschool drop off/pickups

I would like to send my son to a bilingual preschool from September, for 3 days a week. The preschool will start at 9am and finish 13:00. After 13:00 my son will go to the day nursery where is at the moment. The preschool is in Hammersmith, about 30-40 minutes bus ride/car drive from our home in Ful...

Re: Post Natal Care - Chelsea and Westminster

Had planned C-section at C&W in summer 2019. C&W did not offer mid-wife home visits. Health visitors visited quite frequently first two weeks, if I remember correctly. Then I was going to HV center regularly until lockdown started. Since then my child has not been seen by HV nor by GP.
