Re: Looking at churches in the area

Hi commonsmum, It is a bit further out for you, but we go to a lovely church in Chelsea - St Mary the Bolton's. It's like a village church in the center of London. A traditional service but open and welcoming. https://www.stmarytheboltons.org.uk/ There is a traditional organist and choral scholars t...

Looking for a temporary carer/au pair/nanny for the next few weeks

I'm posting on behalf of an elderly friend. She is looking for someone to stay with her for a couple of weeks while she recovers her mobility. She has support during the day but cannot get in and out of bed by herself and so needs some help at night. She lives in a mansion block in Chelsea for retir...

Re: I am so upset with our local nursery admissions - do I have to be a pushy parent?

Thanks for replying Goldhawk. Yes, it was a late application. On our tour in June I was told that there wasn't a waiting list and they'd send out an offer letter with a date - I never heard from them again. They also then started advertising that places were still available for September so I know t...

I am so upset with our local nursery admissions - do I have to be a pushy parent?

I sent in an application on 10 June for my daughter to start at our local nursery. It is impossible to live closer than we do, so I was sure she would get a place.  We did a tour the next week and I asked if there was anything else I needed to do or if I needed to follow up. They said no. She was li...

Re: Thomas' Parents please don't park on street corners

To: Zombiedmummy Given that recently the royal bodyguards have been parking further back from the dropped curb (so they don't block it) and turning off their engines, it looks like this is their choice rather than an imperative for them. Also, given that they are often on their phones, drinking coff...

Re: Thomas' Parents please don't park on street corners

Good for you Gemma! And that's a good suggestion by Dimelda. I assume that they keep the engine running because they want to keep their heating on. If a traffic warden were to just take a little walk down Battersea High Street at pick up time, he would have a field day. I wonder if one of the newspa...

Re: Thomas' Parents please don't park on street corners

Thomas's are planning to open a secondary school (close to the Battersea high Street one) on the old premises of the Royal Academy of Dance. The council have sent out request for comment saying that most of the pupils will walk or take the bus to school. I very much doubt that! I can't find a link t...

Re: Thomas' Parents please don't park on street corners

The (the body guards) also regularly park blocking off the dropped curb which forces pedestrians out into the road to get past their vehicles. I don't know how wheelchair users manage to cross - one can only hope that they move their SUV's for them. They are an absolute nightmare!

Re: Thomas' Parents please don't park on street corners

Sorry to jump in on your post, but we have the same problem with Thomas' Battersea. I've seen a wheelchair user have to detour into the street because Thomas' parents were parked over the ramped down part of the pavement. (This also makes it very hard for those pushing a pram to navigate) The pedest...
