Re: victorian tile company recommendation

Topps tiles do a mesh version that still looks pretty good as long as you can find someone to lay it well. I was quoted £10k for a bespoke pattern which was beyond our budget.

MIND YOUR (CAR) SENSORS - WARNING ON CAR THEFT

Strange warning on my car about having no front collision sensor.....long story short is that there has been a spate of car sensor thefts in SW London. (From BWMs/VWs etc). Apparently, the sensors cost around £2,000 new with extra cost for the fitting. You can pick a "used" one up on eBay ...

Re: Buy a flat or invest small inheritance?

Hi - I have some recent experience of this as I recently sold my buy-to-let place in Balham and also am an IFA. In short, an investment property does not tend to be tax efficient largely due to extra stamp duty, income tax and capital gains tax upon sale. Amateur landlords have always relied upon ca...

Re: What does prep offer in terms of study skills?

I come at this from two angles -  1) As a Financial Adviser - if you have to think about the cost of a private primary school, you need to properly drill down into the numbers. As the others say above, it may be better save it for secondary school which will have a much greater impact on their life ...

Re: Best Indian food in Clapham?

Akash used to be good but has slid a bit in my opinion. Had some Rajah Rowing and Bombay Bike recently, they have been decent. Go to would be Indian Ocean just off Wandsworth Common on Trinity Road. They all deliver.

It goes without saying that the world has become more expensive recently but areas such as life insurance have a...

School Planning

back to school.jpg With the summer behind us and the school term back in full flow, this is the time when parents often start to plan for the future and think about the next stage of education for their children. We have two young daughters and are certainly blessed with a multitude of fantastic lo...

Re: Discretionary Trust payment for children - used by father

Agree with above, do you know the Trustees and have their contact details? I would be tempted to get in touch with them directly first rather than racking up legal bills. If the kids have a Junior ISA you may want to ask that future funds get directly applied here to avoid this happening again. FYI ...

Re: Is it easy to sand a floor and does it yield decent results?

Sanded two floors - excellent results but got a professional to do it.... you could do it yourself but maybe steer away from that if DIY isn't your thing. Put an advert on trustatrader and get some quotes. One of the main issues is dust, lots of it. Good luck.
