Re: Husband won't wear helmet on electric bike

"If he wears a helmet he can cycle a little faster and get more exercise..."

The golden safety rule is you should drive a bike or car according to the conditions. Not using say, presence of air-bags or wearing helmets as a lee way to increase speed.

Re: Is skiing over New Year a good idea?

If you are concerned about practical use of money set aside for skiing, Xmas is the wrong time to go. As mentioned by others on this thread the weather is variable year by year at Xmas and though snow-canons stand ready to help should it be mild, the total square meters of ski- able snow is a much s...

Re: Husband won't wear helmet on electric bike

I too ride an electric bike, max speed is 15 mph, (if not illegally adjusted).  I do not wear a cycle helmet, mainly because I do not feel comfortable with it on and ruins my enjoyment. It is a matter of personal choice as the evidence of helmet protection is mixed. I'll agree to wear one when most ...

Re: Alleyn's considering scrapping setting essays as homework

Maybe the answer is to ask the pupils to quote sources and insist they list say 10 sources in an essay and quote the source /or in part and say why it is agreeable or disagreeable to the set contention / objective. This would be introducing pupils to a standard usually not used below A-Level standar...

Re: Why can't my children go to a Catholic school of the council fund them?

I have some knowledge of this (albeit I may be corrected). You will be surprised to learn that on average Catholic schools have an average of 30% of non-catholic pupils in attendance.  I think though in London that figure is a little lower because of over-subscribing. The Catholic Church has an agre...

Re: Husband wants me to ask friend to pay for parking permit when they leave car

Just say "Of course, that's fine, what's a £100 for a permit between friends. Now let me get your dates correct before I apply..." wait for the penny to drop. When she clicks on the cost, still insist on paying but end by agreeing to split the bill between you. She will no doubt bring back...

Re: Reckless driver in Stormont Road / Clapham Northside

I think what happened to your family was terrible. You should call the police they can scan the CCTV cameras, only takes a few minutes though might take them a while to work through the current queue. It's worth as by the description that woman's behaviour is a danger to all road-users. However, as ...
