Re: puppy

That's very sad for the puppy, it sounds like he's actually very ill and shouldn't be adopted again. They should have talked through options with you. Moving homes is traumatic for dogs, especially if he's ill. It also sounds like he's sicker than they initially thought.

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

I'd say you put it perfectly. It's illegal to discriminate, that's all there is to it.

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

  people in other counties read this and wonder what the fuss is all about, as its a complete non-issue in most countries. Women feed their babies and that's it. It makes it seem like British people have issues with sex and nature. Which is probably the true bottom line, especially for mes...

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

I think everyone fumbles and no one ever feels completely comfortable, even if they regularly breastfeed in public. All breastfeeding mothers know this anxiety. Some choose to avoid public feeding but some may actually not have that choice. Having a new baby can be lonely and any invitation from fri...

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

I would be shocked if Nigel Farage had any viewpoint other than this? Hardly surprising that Britains top biggot doesn't support breastfeeding. I think he's on the sane level as women who strip down to the waste to prove a point. Public shock value.

Re: Would you hire a nanny that doesn't speak English? Also

But modern technology comes to the rescue with the google translation app. I know a few nannies that don't speak English. It doesn't take them long to learn.

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

Claridge's are trying to cleverly get round the law. They cannot refuse to serve her or ask her to stop, which they didn't. So they are smugly pointing out that they didn't break the law. But Mungomuffit, you're right they did discriminate, so maybe they did. Let's see if she pushes this further. I ...

Re: Claridge's asks breastfeeding mother to cover up

That's awful. I would be humiliated if waiters did that to me. I was always nervous about breastfeeding in public. I think it says a lot about Claridges, they need to put their feet back on solid ground. Life's not a scene from a period drama. Victorian women of high society paid others to breastfee...

Re: Unexploded bomb in Clapham Garden! Street evacuated...

There are a few around. A few years ago while we were at the army museum, a relative bought an old man's war memorabilia in. The museum was evacuated for a couple of hours ( buggies and belongings left inside) while the bomb squad carried out controlled explosions on two active bombs. One museum emp...

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

Most schools start at 9am and finish between 3.15-3.30, I sincerely hope they are also planning to improve breakfast/after school clubs if some parents will then be forced to be in two or more places at the same time, just because their personal circumstances have changed. I have moved twice since m...

Re: Potty training a girl - we are stuck...

Sounds like she's scared of actually going into the toilet. You could ask her what she thinks happens when you wee or poo on the tiolet or potty. You might get some idea from her about what it is that is bothering her. Two year old logic is often wacky to us, but to them their phobia/fear makes tota...

Re: how's Clapham manor primary school lately?

My kids have plenty of playdates. Most of the population of Clapham Manor goes to Grafton Square playground to play together after 3.30, so you could try bringing your girls there and see for yourself what the children are like. They might also make some new friends!
