Re: Teenager Eating disorder - Help please

The charity Beat has a help finder to find local support from therapists etc: https://helpfinder.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/# You can also access some of Beat’s own one-to-one support remotely (by phone/email). And their helpline is super useful for people with an eating disorder themselves and thei...

Re: Daughter burgled at university

So sorry to hear this has happened to your daughter - what a horrible experience. I had a thought about HMOs which might be useful - though note I'm also not a lawyer. Given there are 7 people living in the house, it sounds like the property should have an HMO licence. I believe this always gives th...

Re: Unusual London museum recommendations?

The Hunterian Museum (inside the Royal College of Surgeons) is good and free - though better for older children (lots of old specimen in bottles...)

Also used to love the Old Operating Theatre by London Bridge, but haven't been in ages - there used to be an entrance fee

Re: Laundry room - Where do you dry you clothes?

We use both a lakeland heated airer and a dehumidifier - they work wonders together (washing dry in 2 hours!) - would definitely recommend!

Re: Cookery classes suitable for dads!!

A second vote for The Cookhouse! Steph and Emma are great, it's super relaxed and they give you loads of new ideas for injecting some variety into the recipes they show you. I know they've got some specific 'Cooking for Dads' courses on soon if your husband would appreciate some male company, but I'...

Re: Did you get your first choice primary?

I'm interested to find out what school children from the area around the southern end of Wroughton/Hillier/Devereux Roads were offered? Looks to me like the Alderbrook catchment has shrunk sufficiently to exclude this area, but it's too far from HW/BV (even with the increase in BV's catchment). Rave...

Re: books for 4 and 5 year olds

Have you tried any of the Katie Morag stories or Alfie books by Shirley Hughes? They have a lot meatier text than Gruffalo but aren't chapter books.

Not used them myself, but I've heard good things about these: http://www.multimac.co.uk/home

Re: History buffs - War of the Roses/ Henri VIII

'The Wars of the Roses' by Alison Weir is good - it reads quite like a novel (it focuses on the personal relationships) but is factually correct, too. She's also written a book called 'Six Wives of Henry VIII' - I haven't read it myself, so can't recommend it, but if it's anywhere near as good as Th...

Re: 6am workout

I really liked Pure Gym when I was in a similar situation. There's one by the Town Hall in Wandsworth and another on in Lambeth on the Wandsworth Road, so maybe not as close as you were looking for, but they're open 24 hours a day!
