You don't have to send your passport - you can send a national ID card instead. That's what I did - I applied for one especially for this purpose as I never needed it before. My embassy did it in 2 weeks. My understanding from German friends is that their embassy is facilitating this process as well...

Electrician recommendation - lights gone on one floor

The lights on one of the floors in our house are gone (but not the sockets) - got an emergency electrician and he says that the problem must be with the wires/joints (?) that he can't access so the whole floor needs to be rewired. This electrician only does emergency call outs so I need to find some...

I go to Eyediology in Commercial Street (Aldgate) - they have a very good selection and some nichy stuff as well. I make sure Laura is there - she is brilliant at helping you choose frames.
