Can I take a baby in a taxi with no car seat? Post Reply

Hi there
I need to take my baby to the airport next week, however we have a car seat at our end destination, therefore do not need to take ours with us. So my question is, can I take my baby in a taxi with no car seat? I think the law says yes but are most cab firms happy to do it?

You are right, there are no laws, however most taxi companies will provide a car seat for you if you ask, although I have known people put their children on their laps in a taxi and they also accept this too, it's up to you really and what you feel comfortable with!

we booked wtih a mini cab firm that was happy to store our carseat for us whilst we were away and picked us up with it. I wasn't massively happy to travel that far without one... but you can.

We use Just Airports taxi company. They provide car seats for a £5 charge. Not brand new clearly but much better than the alternative.
