Looking for a great holiday location for an 18 month old

Postby NorthcoteDad » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:42 pm

Hi

We have an 18 month old and are looking for recommendations that get close to the following criteria:

- Sun and warmth in late July / early August
- Max 5 hours flight time from UK. Direct
- Similar time zone to UK
- Resort that has childcare facilities for a 18 month old during the day (and offers babysitting) so we can have dinner at the resort
- Good restaurants
- Beach
- Pool

Many thanks

Personally, I like martinhal resort on the algarve. It's a 1 hr 15 drive from faro airport, beautiful modern villas, not so big that you can't walk around it with a toddler, stylish but also very kiddy friendly. They have a very good crèche, babysitters, pools, 3 restaurants plus poolside bars, trampoline, play area. it is more of a pool than beach holiday as the beach is v windy (good for windsurfing though!), depends if you're bothered about that. It is also not as hot as places further south in the med which is good for a toddler. We've been at Easter and in August and love it.

The totstoo website has loads of other family friendly places to choose from.

We really like Pine Cliffs resort in Portugal, which I think meets all your criteria. We have stayed in both a Residence Apartment and one of the Townhouses, and the Residence Apartments are much, much nicer.

You can normally get some good deals through Design Holidays. Last year we got 25% off plus free half board.

We've been to Martinhal too and personally I was not that impressed, but I know a lot of people rave about it.
